Mac vs PC - Revisited.

, ,

Now here is something that actually isn't about me not having anything to write about.

I'm reinventing the wheel.

Yes, I'm doing what 90% of everyone has done before me, but I'm doing it my way. THIS ARTICLE MIGHT BE EXTENDED - I AM SURE I HAVE FORGOTTEN SOMETHING.

The weekend has been a bit annoying, but also quite AWESOMEheadbang Although, it started with this. great. Then, I had some eleven-year-olds over over the weekend. And guess what? They didn't like video games. knockout hrm. makes me not even bother to put those ->"" in my formatting code. So. They were cool up , but I got my computer this weekend. And the fact that I couldn't use it was tearing me apart faint . Well, more like poking me in the side right left whistle . ANYWAYS. Now I have a PC, but no net. irked But the point is I have a PC. OK, it's an HP. No, it doesn't suck. It ROCKS.

Games I want to play right now.

, , , ...

When we had a power surge here at HQ, I suddenly felt the need to play a PC game. Games that came to mind are:

1. Spring RTS. yes yes yes yes yes

A modern, free, open-source version of previous-millenium real time strategy game Total Annihilation, this game is pretty much just an online strategy game.smile I find it really fun, though the graphics aren't quite that good. To be honest though, this suits me jsut fine, as my computer is [insert bad word here]. A lot of thinking is involved here, and I do like it quite a lot. yes spock

2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 yes yes yes yes yes

Yay! Mainstream game. It's quite nice and nubbly, like Kipling once wrote bigsmile . OK, the single player is @#$%!¤%&¤ with a capital @ , but the multiplayer is great fun. Especially when 33% of all your friends play it. That's pretty much what's good about it, cynically enough: killing your friends.

The lack of destructables pisses me off, and so do the ragdoll physics. And the crappy server solution. But apart from that, it's quite a great game. up

3. Grim Fandango yes yes yes yes yes

Yeah, this game is from 1998. No, it's not boring. This is, in fact, the best story I've seen in any video game (yes, it's better than Read Dead: Redemption). The design of the environment is also pure genius headbang . Recommended for anyone who doesn't really prioritize graphics. Great game, but my little sister did the whole 3rd and 4th chapter without me (there are 4 chapters), and spoiled the ending. Bummer.

4. FPS Alpha yes yes yes yes yes

This is the game I am least likely to play when I get home worried . It's a first person shooter that I and some friends are making in the Unity3D game engine. I want to work on it but I never find time (Guitar has a higher priority) wait . I expect it to be done by Christmas 2010. In the next post I'll make an offical release date.

Note that the video is 3 months old or smth.

Nuclear Noodles.

, , , ...

Yesterday, there was a celebration in Norway that Norwegians call St.Hans' Evening. Basically, it's a celebration that marks the midnight sun here in Norway. Me and a friend grilled some nice meat, then we went to his house. We decided I'll sleep over. Well, maybe not the 'sleep' part bigsmile OK, we did take some naps, Mum, Don't worry happy whistle .

What we basically were doing for some time (till around 3 or something) was playing video games and eating ice cream. Then we got a better idea. Dialouge from in front of a PC screen each.

"OMFG! Stupid lag! Hey, Erik man, you hungry?" Note: he pinged 50. There was no lag
"I dunno, sure. Let's make those lazy-man's noodles Mum gave us. Microwave, two minutes, what could go wrong?" chef

So we went to the kitchen and put a packet of noodles into the microwave. And foolishly enough went back to playing that silly shooting game bigsmile Seven minutes later we remember the noodles. My friend had just failed to make one of the worlds easiest dishes. He never ate those noodles. In fact, they didn't really resemble noodles so much any more.

Luckily, mine turned out good. LK [we call him LK] later complained about that I got the best noodle packet. I asked him to guess why.

For some time, we actually played an old game from 2004 (depicted). It was great fun, as it had a snazzy co-op mode. Anyhow, we had constant coordination problems.
