The most significant side effect of allowing the top 1% to take 24% of the income distribution, is the power that money gives them to continue to corrupt the system. Their principal method for doing this is easy to see, it is the use of that wealth to influence government to do what they want done in order to perpetuate their status. They will fight tooth and nail to prevent a more rational tax policy that will return the income distribution to the 1990s level let alone the level that was the case in the early 1940s before WWII.
