Hi Folks,
Once again I would like to give you a delicious recipe which I have from my mother. Hirse Taler / Millet Taler.
It looks like the hamburger patties but tastes much better. You can make it half meat / millet or only millet. Then it is vegetarian, but not vegan since you need egg.
Recipe for 2 people:
250 gram Millet
250 gram mincemeat
200 gram natural Yoghurt
1 big bundle of parsley
2 eggs
80 gram breadcrumbs, very small/smooth
Spices: salt, pepper, paprika, (chili), salad seasoning
Put the millet in a pot and pour water (lukewarm or cold) over it, the amount of water varies unfortunately. For the beginning put in so much water that it covers the millet 1 finger broad. Then start to boil the millet for about 10 minutes. Maybe you need to put in more water, it depends if your millet is already soft. You will have to find out by eating a bit. After these 10 minutes put the millet aside and let it cool.
If your millet is ready and cool, put it in a bowl and add mincemeat, eggs, salt and pepper (or chili) and 40 gram of the breadcrumbs. Mix every thing very well. Then form small balls of it and put them aside. Put the rest of the breadcrumbs on a plate. Then roll the balls in the breadcrumbs to give them a nice crust and then flatten them to make nice patties. Maybe you need to shape the rim a bit if it brakes, but that's ok. Then fry them with low heat. Make sure they are well done on the first side before you turn them around because otherwise they break easily.
Fry until gold brown on each side then arrange on a nice plate and serve.
Put the Yoghurt in a small nice bowl, add salad seasoning and grated cucumber, mix then serve.
