Opera Mobile

- Eskil reporting from behind the scenes...

Opera on two new Motorola models

, , , ,

The Opera Mobile browser is included on the two new phones from Motorola, the MOTORAZR xx and the MOTORAZR maxx. Both devices are based on Motorola`s own operating system, P2K, targeting the mass market. They are also the two first P2K-based Motorola phones to include the Opera Mobile browser.

More information about the phones.

I didn't even see the word Opera on the page. Ugh. I want Opera to get the credit dang-it!

In my opinion this is more important news than just Opera Mobile on two Motorola handsets. I find it very interesting you don't actually need a real "smartphone" to get a good web browser, but instead one can also be developed for mass market feature phones too running on a proprietary platform of one manufacturer.

Of course, Opera Mini has been available for feature phones too, but it's still more limited (for example SSL access).

True, Tero. Feature phones are now beginning to become powerful enough to run full client-side browsers. Not only does this open up for Web browsing, but for taking full advantage Web technologies, such as Opera Platform and mobile widgets. We'll be announcing some very cool and new stuff later this fall - so stay tuned ;-)

Opera Mini is also scheduled to have SSL support in one of the next versions, which opens up for online banking and more secure shopping with Mini!

i think the best opera browser is 4.1 but ill take 2.06 for my motorola mobile phone it is by far the best for it because it works free
