Opera 8.5 for Pocket PC on Win Mobile 5.0 device in Japan

, , , , , ,

Many of us are waiting for the PPC version of Opera, including me :D. I'm happy to say that we today announced that Opera 8.5 for PPC will be included on the new Sharp W-ZERO3 by the Japanese operator, Willcom Inc.

The Sharp W-ZERO3 is a Windows Mobile 5.0 device, and the first Pocket PC device to feature the Opera browser. The device featuring the final version of Opera 8.5 for PPC will be available in Japan in mid-January. And yes, that is also when we will have the public, downloadable version available from opera.com!

Si gjerne i fra dersom dere trenger beta-testere på Qtek9000 (HTC Universal)! Ellers får jeg bare glede meg til releasen kommer!

:-) Takk for det. Releasen er like rundt hjørnet!

Samme her. Har ventet i evigheter på en PPC WinMobile 2003 SE Opera versjon. Vil mer enn gjerne bli en beta tester - er så sinnsykt lei "the lack of functions" i IE...!

I've been waiting so long... finally a decent browser on my XV6600. I can't wait (and while my Norwegian is even worse than my Danish, I can tell the comments above me are pretty happy).

Yay for Opera! Now if I could only access Windows Update with Opera, I could get rid of IE completely...

See this page : http://windizupdate.com/ "Windizupdate" for a similar service to Windows Update.

I thought Opera for other WM5 devices was due for release on 15th January but no sight of it yet. Has it been delayed again?

Thanks,

Tony
