Website Stuff

I am currently in the middle of redoing our Church website. You should go and have a look at Life Church. Last weekend i took a crash course in web design and am just learning by doing (the best way).

I also have started podcasting our weekend services! You can find them in the side bar or in the links section. Check them out and see what you think.

Anzac Day

Wouldn't be proper of me to go through Anzac Day without saying something. Thanks to all those Anzacs who fought to make Australia the place it is today! I can't imagine having to send my husband or father off to war. So i am eternally grateful to all those men who went and fought for us.

Australia is indebted to you and your spirit and heroics will not be forgotten.

Thanks again!

Inspiration Post 2

,

I read a book once called "Capture: 30 days of inspiration." By Amanda Powell. It's written by a girl in Western Australia and she wrote the book one summer - a chapter everyday on the things that inspired her. It was really inspiring for me, she tried to capture the inspiration in everyday life and she did a great job. One of the things that stood out was at the beginning of everyday she listed the place she was writing at, the poison she was drinking and her favourite thing at that moment. Those three little things reveal alot about what inspires us.

Places - i love to go down to my local starbucks and just take in the atmosphere - watch what other people are doing. I love going to my local borders. I love going shopping and looking at shop fronts, i love just getting out. We live in a place that has two very different opposites. I live in the suburbs a pretty new place, but just 5 minutes away i can drive to the country, with wide open spaces, cows and paddocks and i love that. I love going for a drive and just looking out the window. Houses really inspire me. I love to see people's houses. Amanda's places ranged from coffee shops, to monastaries, to a four poster bed.

Poison - I love my poison. I love to drink coffee. I am a coffee evangelist. I love to sit at home with my brown latte glass and sip home made latte made from my automatic espresso machine. I love to drink tea - and all sorts of tea at that, i love coke, i love water. But most of all it's in the experience. The latte wouldn't taste as good if it was just in a plain old mug. If the tea wasn't made in one of my favourite tea pots and special tea cups then i wouldn't love it so much. The poison is all in the experience of it.

My favourite thing - What things around me do i love? A freshly made bed, The sun coming up in the morning, My huge wine glasses, just to name a few. What are the things around you that give you pleasure? What makes life more pleasurable.

Most of all, thinking about this makes us look around and appreciate what is in front of us and what surrounds us everyday. To be inspired we have got to open our eyes and SEE things.

If this peaks your interest then go to her website, she has continued her quest to write everyday www.capture30days.com

Inspiration Post 1

,

I've decided to gather some thoughts together on inspiration, so here is my first post and i'll try to post most days.

What Inspires you?

Photo's inspire me, great design, shop fronts, people, the cover of a book, clothing, colour, houses, furniture, etc

But most of all the starting of a new project. There's something about starting something new, solving a new problem. I am always most passionate and alive at the beginning stages.

I thought i'd start an inspiration journal, so i've started a photo album and called it inspiration whenever i come across something that inspires me, then i will post it there.

So tell me, what inspires you?

Creative People

,

Found this excerpt at Behance...

David is an advocate for accountability as a prerequisite for responsible creativity. As he explains it, "being a creative is something you have to earn. A lot of people I meet tell me they are creative people, yet when they are given opportunities to come up with ideas I hear silence. Ideas are about taking risks and putting yourself out there no matter what other people think. You aren't always going to hit a homerun but that's the process. One idea leads to the next. It's not that different from inventing something, you have to try and keep trying. You have to have a passion for your ideas because no one else will."

Kind of makes me sit up and take notice. What happens when someone asks me to come up with an idea. Do i sit there in silence, or am i ready?

Are we coming up with ideas even when we are not required to? The Bible says "be prepared in season and out of season."

Creativity

,

You want to hear a great quote...

"The routine is as much a part of the creative process as the lightning bolt of inspiration, maybe more."

This comes from a book called "the creative Habit" By Twyla Tharp. You can read an excerpt at Amazon here.

Looks to be a great read and exactly what i am looking for. Hope to find it in my local bookstore tomorrow!
