copy a master

,

Today i tried to copy the style of a very gifted cg artist, Steve Stahlberg. i recently found his work over my opera, at the photo blog of namevgo, he is a user added as my friend. The way stahlberg is painting in Photoshop is very impressive to me, detailed and photorealistic with a touch of sci-fi surrealism. i spend 4 hours to copy his foreground character. now i am exhausted but quite satisfied with my reproduction, altough some of his shading and texturing techniques are not 100 % clear to me. Also my figure is not as dynamic as his but i was copying without having his original underneath my sketch, so it was good training for my eye i guess.
See the result below, left: Steven Stahlbergs original, right my copy.monkey

fashion illustration

,

my latest experiment. first i skechted a face with some frame work. than i scanned it, placed and traced it in illustrator. by that i experimented with the blend option and had some queer steps inbetween. btw, can any one explain the blend option in Illustrator CS3 to me?? back in photoshop i worked on the face and added some colour details. haute couture by export!

dream

Hi community! some photoshop i-am-in-a-surrealistic-mood data. How do you like it?? By the way, i am looking for somebody creative who likes to take part in a game. We exchange a file and the other one modifies it and passes it back and then i modify it and send it back to you and so on, who would enjoy some freestyle battle against (with) me?! Cat

New tunes for the end of the year!

Dear community, the year almost passed. Remember all things that happened with a smile because everything makes sense after a while... Or: take your time to think about christmas presents for your friends and family! Enjoy and good luck!

Claws out!

I'm in love with a YouTube user named "matbergman" because he created this geektastic video of practically every claymation monster Ray Harryhausen ever made, displayed in chronological order, and set to a zany bongo soundtrack. You can watch Harryhausen's art evolve from the 1930s gorilla movie Mighty Joe Young, through 50s/60s flicks Jason and the Argonauts and the Sinbad trilogy, to the early 80s Clash of the Titans. Harryhausen was the master of special effects in the days before CGI creatures, crafting everything from fighting dinosaurs and skeleton armies to giant chickens, a pissed-off Cyclops, and a multi-armed, sword-wielding Shiva. Watch this video and be amazed at how cool special effects can look without the aid of computers. Plus, OMG! Monsters!!

Nice weekend to everyone!
