About me
Unless you know me in real life, most of what little you do know about me is probably derived from what I have written in my web log.So, who am I?
This is a tricky question to answer as I'm not always entirely sure who I am from one moment to the next.
How I think of myself:
- Honest
- Introvert
How my friends think of me:
- Stubborn (in a good way)
- Opinionated
How I really am:
- Loyal
- Dedicated
Regarding my social, political, religious and other similar views, I dislike ideologies in all forms. I believe ideologies are an excuse for people to avoid thinking. Once people adopt a certain philosophy that claims it has all of the answers, they stop thinking and start rationalizing. I find it difficult to take anybody's opinions seriously when it is clear that they started with the answers, and then worked backward to select facts that would support their views, and ignore facts that don't. Most people declaiming their opinions succeed primarily in convincing me that they are too stupid to understand any viewpoint other than their own.
Overall, I don't like people assuming that one opinion locates me at some point on certain scales-- I've never seen a logical reason why my opinion about, say, gun control ought to have some ideological correlation with my opinion about birth control. I'm not a liberal. I'm not a conservative. Mark me down as "other."
Interests:
Physics, Mathematics, Technology, Philosophy of Science (as well as a few others), Social Science, Linguistics. More and more my interests have moved towards thinking & education. I keep thinking of setting up a school or higher education institute sometime.
I listen primarily to Central Asian Folk Music, Classical, and Heavy Metal: Samael, Dark Tranquility, etc. I read voraciously and collect books as well.
