Hi there again. I'm sorry for my recent long absences.
Although it's been already a week, but I'd like to talk about the overwhelming approval for a ban on the construction of minarets on mosques in Switzerland. When asked 'do you think holding a referendum for emotional cases is correct?', Michelin Kalmi responded: 'This is communal democracy. If you hold this referendum in France, you'll receive the same results'.
I guess only Michelin Kalmi and like-minded people can call such a Populism a 'Democracy'. The first problem is seen in the approach that is disavowal of groups' religious beliefs. This was rather a call for hatred towards Muslims.
What's more, referendum CANNOT be used to repress minorities; this is contrary to Democracy: it is clear that minorities will be outnumbered by the majority. The people who started such a jangle also support the independence of Tibet, for what they frequently criticize China. But we know that if China (with its 1.4 billion population) holds a referendum on this issue the way they did, the results will be obvious just from now.
As Russia prepares to carry the Olympic torch forward in 2014, it is creating a high-tech sporting Mecca of the 21st Century. Using the latest design software, earthquake-proof stadiums are being constructed – which will recycle their own waste to protect the natural environment – as well as a new, integrated transport system to provide a smooth ride.
Before we start discussing how to write an academic research paper, let us stop on a question: what to start with? Many students start with the secondary things, accelerate too long, hang a leg, etc. (still, at least they START writing). If you have the same problem, have a look at these papers:
If a long time ago, before being born, you were asked 'would you like to live in this world in which you don't know when to start, how much you have time there, and without knowing whom you should leave when pulling out?', how would you reply?

Very good, you show an aptitude for the history and culture of the Russian people. There is probably even a small chance that you enjoy some Kholodets every now and then.

I've just studied the document presented on Tuesday by Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair that lists the priorities for 16 US intelligence agencies over the next four years. Those include combating terrorists and WMD proliferation, integrating intelligence efforts and enhancing cyber security.
Interestingly, unlike the previous national intelligence strategy issued in 2005, the new paper doesn’t single out promoting democracy as a goal. What's more, US intelligence has put Russia on the list of states able to challenge American interests due its military force, espionage, cyber operations and other capabilities - in the same category as what Washington used to call “Axis of Evil” countries (Iran and North Korea).
It’s difficult to understand the change between the report by Bush administration (which was universally accused of unilateralism) and this first report of the Obama's (one more balanced and politically correct, while the other one seems like it will complicate Russian-US cooperation). This is an informative article you might like to read.
First, let me make an apology for my prolonged absence. I have had a bit of a strange run of misfortune, due to a slight human error, that has left my mind elsewhere.
Anyhow, I just read an article about non-belief. Religion is undoubtedly good for the soul. It offers itself as a panacea to the problems the world throws at us, but does that mean the atheists among us are doomed? Are secular societies to be feared and avoided?
Religion, we are told, can prolong our lives and help keep our society in check. However, while people argue that godless societies devolve into a lawlessness and immorality, the best societies were some of the least religious countries in the world. Scandinavian countries, for instance, have the lowest church attendance rates, also the lowest rates in belief in God or Jesus or the Bible. If they did believe, that belief was weak.
Do secular societies descend into chaos and throw up nightmare states? Do drop me a line
