It was the year 2000, we had just survived the last century/millennium and I was living the dream every young boy has: to play in a band. Manato was a partner in this endeavour and we still laugh when we look back at that time.
The band name was El Ultimo Vestigio and we played poppish love songs, much like Mexican bands El Circulo and Ragazzi, I remember we even studied the performances of those bands and covered their songs. I have video and tapes to prove that o.O
The best song we played together was called "Mientras el Cielo" and never had a definitive version. We all saw it differently. Everybody had his own vision of the song, whether it was a pop ballad, a rock song or an acoustic rendition. The last time I played that song for someone was in a living room with a guitar that wasn't mine.
Many years have passed along with several attempts to bring the song together again, but still, we can't agree. Maybe the answer is GarageBand, maybe to play it with acoustic guitars and a cello or maybe leave it alone at once. Hay muchas cosas que se deberían simplemente dejar pasar y ya, anyway.
The answer came last Friday, on the Spoil3r rehearsal that featured Manato with his electro-acoustic guitar. Carlos, Manato and I were just fooling around and I don't know how, but we just started to play "Mientras el Cielo" and it sounded right, for the very second time it sounded like I imagined it should sound. And we played, and the lyrics came back to life, and I felt like many years have passed and that I should record that song for me. And I sang...
