Linux for everyone!!

Last night I downloaded Knoppix Linux live CD. At school I have some friends who are simply unable to run an installed version of Linux on their machines, and as IT engineers we must know something about linux.

A few weeks ago I downloaded Mandrake Move live CD. It ran perfectly on other machines but not on mine, so I decided to give away a few copies to my friends so they could use or know Linux without installing it on their pc's.

Knoppix turned out to be a great option, it detectected all my hardware and I was able to surf the web, no superOpera though, but nevermind, it's not my primary system, I'm just saying that is a great option for getting to know Linux without messing with your computer.

By the way, about my favourite gadgets:

I had to switch from my Nokia 1100 to a 3320 (not GSM) because my SMS service was lousy and I really want my messages to reach Pau, which on the other phone didn't happen so, TDMA for everyone as well!

Tengo adentro un diablo

I went to bed at about 10 pm because I was feeling pretty tired, I don't know why, really... more than tired I think I was bored. I slept for 2 hours but a message from Pau woke me up. It was a good thing, though, cuz I miss her very much. After that I continued reading this book I'm about to finish, Rayuela by Julio Cortazar (Pau's recommendation since April :S).

Right now I'm also reading Del Amor y Otros Demonios by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, it's a much easier book than Rayuela and I think I can finish both before Pau returns from vacation. It is about a 12 year old girl who's thought to be possesed by the Devil after a dog biting.

Tomorrow I have to go to school from 11 to 1 and then from 6 to 10, and I have to go downtown to get some business done but I can't sleep!

I wish Pau was here.

Let's keep on learning about Sierva María from "Del Amor", or maybe I should just finish Rayuela and learn whatever happened to Oliveira, La Maga, Traveler and the rest of the Snake Club.

I am sad :(

Pau's gone on vacation!!!! Well, I guess this time it was her turn. A couple of weeks before we became a couple I went on vacation (remember?) and maybe she did missed me. I'll miss her because she'll be out for 2 weeks.

Nevermind, we'll always have SMS to keep in touch and I'm glad that she can enjoy her well earned vacation, cuz she's just finished Jr. High. Right now I'm still at skool and won't be on vacation until August 20.

At least yesterday we got the chance to say goodbye and today she called me on the phone to say that she'll miss me

Busy day - great day

Today was one of those days that you almost use every minute of it.

It all began when I woke up at 9:50 and got ready for class. It started at 11:00 and a classmate and I were supposed to give a lecture on new software tendencies. We really weren't prepared, but as I like programming I spoke about object-oriented programming and open standards (of course I talked about Opera)and it turned out to be a great lecture. At 2:00 I went to the dentist and got back to skool at 4:30 where I finished a report for Cisco Networking Academy. At 6:00 we took test on units 8 and 9 of netacad and finally at 8:00 I went to Java where I found Pau on the Messenger. We spoke for 2 hours and I got my practices checked by the teacher. I came back home at 10:30 to watch 24 on Fox.

I really wished all my days were so productive

Open Source Wednesday

First, I want to talk about how the day was saved on Monday by Abiword. I had exam after my CISCO class but I hadn't studied, so I brought my notes on .doc format to study during class. So I used Abiword to read them. This is interesting because the computers in that room don't have any word processor installed and one day my team and I had to deliver a report we hadn't finished, so I downloaded Abiword and installed it in the computer I use every class. So this is the second time Abiword saves the day for me.

Today I'm bored and not happy because I can't see Pau, in fact, I think I won't be able to see her until weekend. Gosh, I miss my girl P:

Earlier today I went to the dentist so my jaw hurts for being open for an hour and a half.

MandrakeMove Snapshot

Well, ok. I've become a Linux live-cd addict. Last night I downladed the newest (test) version of MandarakeMove, based on ther 10.0 distro.

Last version I got was based on 9.2 and simply didn't run right on my HP computer. Surprisingly 10.0 ran very swift and it even detected my n-vidia network card so I could surf on the Internet. It was a pleasant surprise because I was thinking of switching from Fedora to Mandrake, but 9.2 simply wasn't the option.

I guess I'll wait for the offical Move version comes out and I'll order a copy of Mandrake Discovery, which includes a full copy of Move.

By the way, skool sucks. They told me to remove my new piercing but I cut off a deal to get permission to wear it until the healing process is over. Then I'll just pick up the paper I signed and buy a transparent barbell

Eyebrow pierced

Today I had my eyebrow pierced!

I went to pick up Pau and we went to my favourite piercing studio. Usually only the one to get pierced can enter the restricted area, but as this people know me since 2001 they had no problem with Pau being around, which was quite fun because we were playing and kissing before and after the piercing was performed. That made me less nervous and we both liked my new piercing.

After that we went to eat some hamburgers and got caught in the rain on our way to her house, and of course we gave good use to the time we spent together.

It's been a while

It's been a while since my last post! I usually post about twice a week but I haven't got the time.

Let's post again:

This last couple of weeks have been rather nice for me, I have been seeing Pau more often and her mom has been cooler than at the beginning. With skool I've been doing ok and I'll have exams in three weeks so that will be not so smooth times.

But anyways, I'm really happy with Pau, we really care for each other and I think we'll have a lot to live yet.

A busy week

It's wednesday and this week has already been very busy. First of all, I take class from 11 to 3 and from 6 to 10 on mondays and thursdays, so I don't have much time for anything else. On monday I spent about an hour and a half on the cellphone with Pau and then we met on tuesday. I went to pick her up from her music school and we spent the whole afternoon together.

Today I have to go to Dr. Isabel's house, she needs an antivirus updating and a new modem. Later on, I have to go to my grandparents home to help my favourite cousin with her final exams study guides.

Thursday is out of the question because of the above written.

Friday I'll take Paty, Migue's cousin to take a math test and later we'll him, at the same place because he'll take a test on his own. Maybe we all can go and see a movie afterwards.

Finally, on saturday I'll have another job fixing a friend's computer, and with a little luck I'll see Pau on the afternoon.

Tell me, isn't this a busy week?

About parents and their websites

It's been a while since my last website design. Lately I've only been doing some manteinance and updating. Yesterday I redesigned my dad's website because I was bored. The site is www.telmendez.com.

It's good practice because next week I'll be rebuilding one of my biggest sites from scratch.
This week I couldn't see Pau because she told her parents that we're going out and they didn'l like the idea at first, but after a very long chat between them, they finally agreed to our relationship!

They want to talk to me, of course, but now we're a "legal" couple and of course that makes me very happy.

I'll go to talk to her parents next friday (why not earlier? because they're busy people).
