Subway Card

,

About a couple of years ago, the MX City government started to sell rechargeable subway cards for people to avoid buying tickets. Each ticket cost 2 MXN and is worth for a travel, so every time you slide your card, 2 MXN are taken off your credit.

10 cent coins are a rather common MX currency, but each coin alone isn't good for much, so while trying to put my room in order, I found a lot of 10 and 20 cent coins, after counting them I got the fabulous amount of 20 MXN, since loose change is rather useless, I decided to give them to the subway people, who actually give you 10 cent coins as change given the chance!

Sadly, they didn't took my loose change and I had to change it at a bank while paying my credit card, but I ended up giving 20 MXN to my subway card, anyway

Todo mi mundo a color

Sube como un niño, como un niño y su televisión
Verde como el día, como el día en que se conectó

Little homage to the X-Box that has given us hours and hours and hours of healthy entertainment and to the Gears of Wars 2 DVD that I killed yesterday when I accidentally kicked the console and it fell to the ground. Now it's time to get a GoW2 special edition or HAlo something, don't you think?

Car audio

,

Finally, after almost a year of not having a nice stereo in my car, I bought one today. It's not the one I would have liked (you know, iPod ready and all) but it works pretty fine and has a lot of nice features like MP3 reading, a remote control and now the radio works, so I can plug in my iPod anyway

Lateral thinking

Problem:

I had to download 600+ photos before 8 AM this morning form a Sony Cyber-shot camera with no battery.

Solution:

I took out the Memory Stick from the camera and loaded it into the PSP, so instead of plugging in the camera, I plugged in the console, while the camera's battery charged through the night.

8 hours of hard work

I got Gears of War 2 as a birthday present on Friday and all I've done this weekend is to play. This game is way better than the first one and today I spent 8 hours straight playing and solved 2 of the 5 acts

If you get to play this game, you'll notice that the graphs are clearer and that there are new locust and some new weapons too. It's a great game for a Saturday night with your friends as we found out yesterday!

A smooth transaction

To renew my cellphone contract, it's always been a pain in the ass. Honestly! Some times, I have to wait for hours, other times, the phone I want is not available and when they actually offer it to me, I have to wait for 2 or 3 days to pick it up.

On Friday I went to renew my contract hoping for the worst, but after a 40 minute wait, I walked out of Telcel's CAT with my new toy: a Sony-Ericcson C-902 (and they even had the color I wanted!).

So, after playing the mobile version of Need For Speed that's included, I took a little while tweaking the phone and installing Opera Mini. Sony-Ericsson has even got the official plug-in to synch the phone using my iMac's iSynch!

I am really really happy and even happier cuz I downloaded and installed Quadrapop

Cellphone upgraded

Celebrating the release of Opera Mini 4.2 which, of course, I've already downloaded, let me tell you that a couple of months ago my cellphone simply died while trying to post an MMS post on my blog. Something happened to the software or something. I started using my dad's Nokia 3230 but such cellphone just sucks: I never got around to saving music to the memory card or to run Opera Mini. The interesting part was that I got to synch it with my Macbook's address book via bluetooth!

About a week later, I got a Sony-Ericsson K810 and the differences started popping into view: I simply switched my memory card from my dead cell to this one and everything was good again, I even reorganized my Address Book to synch it again. I even got to configure my cell to text on Twitter but sadly, I came to realize that I have no (networked) social life since most of my friends aren't computer savvy :frown:

I've been using this cell for about three weeks now and it's one of the reasons I've been making some videos lately, it also runs Opera Mini and I'm using the black skin that goes perfectly with the phone.

Where I use Opera Mini the most is in the classroom, where I have no Internet access and sometimes students have questions that only Wikipedia or Google can answer, so I just quickly log on to the internet through my cell and run a quick search. I also use it while on my parents' house in ACA, that's in the middle of nowhere.

Anyway, since this is a borrowed cell, I'll be getting myself a C series on February

Obsolete, or not

,

Today I needed an USB memory to bring home some files from the lab's server, but I totally forgot it here. I noticed that their lenght was less than 1 MB so I decided to put them on an old diskette from several that I have. Then I downloaded the information to my memory using my HP box.

The flexible magnetic disk, or diskette (-ette is a diminutive suffix), revolutionized computer disk storage in the 1970s. Diskettes, which were often called floppy disks or floppies by English speaking users, became ubiquitous in the 1980s and 1990s in their use with personal computers and home computers, such as the Apple II, Macintosh, MSX 2/2+, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum +3, Commodore 64/128, Atari ST, Amiga and IBM PC compatibles, to distribute software, transfer data, and create backups.

Well, obsolete or not, they saved the day!

The little pleasures

Sometimes, even if you like what you're doing, you need to nourish your will to keep on working. This little pleasures can go from getting your driver's license to getting your iPod Touch updated. Fede and Manatito have been through the process of spoilng themselves with shoes, software and stuff. Today it was my turn.

I bought myself a t-shirt. Oh, yeah, and I got myself some technologicaly enhanced formal footwear ^_^
