We get them occasionally in the Gulf of Mexico. They usually don't do much damage; I suspect that it's because so much of its energy is used in lifting the water.
There was a group of them a few years ago, that went through the city of Miami, Florida ... VERY unusual! And I think one has been seen on the Great Lakes, but I'd have to check that out.

It has amazed me up
and it was not the first one I saw wink
was an amazing spectacle of nature
But I wonder...
why I see so many twisters now?
I have lived near the sea but I'd never seen so many before.
Something about the climate is changing...
