Cesse tes reproches, toi qui me critiques * Si tu connaissais vraiment ma situation tu me trouverais des excuses . ________________________________________________________________________________________ Laysa Al Ghareeb by Zayn Al-'Abidin in English
Invalid ISO file problem with "Microsoft’s Official Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool"
Monday, January 25, 2010 1:18:17 PM
1. Simply make a copy using UltraISO program, PowerISO, Daemon Tools ..... etc.,
2. You may download an ISO image from Microsoft websites.
Now, you made an ISO image from your W7 DVD, and you chose the first way (in my previous post) to make Bootable USB Drive and install Windows 7/Vista From this USB Drive.
But Oops! You got this ERROR Message in the 1st step when You hit NEXT
Now What's the solution? and What does this message mean?
Don't panic
Follow these exclusive steps:
1. Download "UltraISO PE v9.5.1 full version" from Mediafire
2. Make an ISO image from your W7 DVD. It's very easy (Insert your W7 DVD, Right click, UltraISO\Create CD/DVD image..., Choose iso extension, Done)
3. After you made an ISO image open it in UltraISO (Open with UltraISO, or double click). It'll open this window:
4. Hit the little right sign
in the left pane. It will open this window:Look at these settings
*Joliet , *Omit ISO 9660 version number. Change these settings to the settings in the following picture (check UDF, Uncheck Joliet and Omit ISO 9660 version number) then HIT ok:5. Save your previous Windows 7 ISO image (you are already opening it) as a new ISO image with these new settings
look at the following pictures:
6. Now go back and open "Microsoft’s Official Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool". In step 1 browse to your new Windows 7 ISO image (UDF now not Joliet
):7. Hit NEXT and congratulations You are in STEP 2
For PowerISO users, I received this tip:

I found an alternative way using another program, ImgBurn, that detected I wanted to burn an ISO file for Boot and install!! and made most of the settings automatically for me. After a second try, the W7 installed! Thanks anyway for the clues included in your tutorial, it helped me a lot. Rgds JG
I want to thank my friend Mahmoud Fikry (Godsmack) for his comments and feedback.
And I'd like to thank Abhishek for sharing my tutorial with others:

Please leave comments, I DID NOT USE GOOGLE OR OTHER TWEAKING WEBSITES. IT JUST TOOK 0.05 SECONDS OF THINKING TO GET THIS SOLUTION I CONVERTED THE DVD FILE SYSTEM FROM JOLIET TO UDF (I THOUGHT THE ORIGINAL ISO FROM MICROSOFT SHOULD BE UDF NOT JOLIET)
How to make Bootable USB Drive and install Windows 7/Vista From this USB Drive
Friday, January 8, 2010 11:10:21 PM
Impotant Notes:
1. This tutorial is the most completed tutorial you can find on Internet.
2. Your Motherboard and your BIOS must support boot from USB (flash) Drive.
3. You must boot from USB drive by entering to your PC BIOS Setup or set your quick boot and make the
first boot device to the USB drive.
4. I will explain three ways to boot windows 7 from a USB stick (USB drive/USB flash memory).
5. Leave comments at the end of this post so I can answer your questions ASAP (as soon as possible).
A. The First Way (Microsoft’s Official “Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool”):
Recently Microsoft released a small utility to create Windows 7 bootable USB/DVD called "Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool" which was pulled down later due to some GNU General Public License (GPL) terms violation.
Now the good news is Microsoft has put it back under GPL. So you can download it again.
Download Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool from Microsoft
Download Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool from Mirror
Download Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool from Mediafire
After downloading and installing the tool, when you launch it, it'll ask you to select the path where you have stored Windows 7 ISO file:
Provide the ISO file path and click on "Next" button. Now it'll ask you whether you want to create bootable USB drive or DVD:
Click on the desired button. If you select "USB Device", it'll ask you to insert the USB device. If your USB device is compatible, it'll be automatically detected by the tool:
Click on "Begin Copying" button. Now you'll be prompted to format the USB device. Accept the confirmation:
That's it. The tool will start copying the installation files to USB device:
At last, it'll show a message that "Bootable USB device created successfully".
System Requirements:
* Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit)
* Pentium 233-megahertz (MHz) processor or faster (300 MHz is recommended)
* 50MB of free space on your hard drive
* DVD-R drive or 4GB removable USB flash drive
B. The Second Way (Using DISKPART built-in command in DOS):
This guide works 100% for Vista & Windows 7 unlike most of the guides out there. The main advantage is that by using USB drive you will be able to install Windows 7/Vista in just 15 minutes. You can also use this bootable USB drive on friend's computer who doesn’t have a DVD optical drive.
The method is very simple and you can use without any hassles. Needless to say that your motherboard should support USB Boot feature to make use of the bootable USB drive.
Requirements:
* USB Flash Drive (Minimum 4GB)
* Windows 7 or Vista installation files.
Follow the below steps to create bootable Windows 7/Vista USB drive using which you can install Windows 7/Vista easily:
1. Plug-in your USB flash drive to USB port and move all the contents from USB drive to a safe location on your system.
2. Open Command Prompt with admin rights. Use any of the below methods to open Command Prompt with admin rights.
A. Type cmd in Start menu search box and hit Ctrl+ Shift+ Enter.
Or
B. Go to Start menu > All programs > Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
3. You need to know about the USB drive a little bit. Type in the following commands in the command prompt:
First type DISKPART and hit enter to see the below message.
Next type LIST DISK command and note down the Disk number (ex: Disk 1) of your USB flash drive. In the below screenshot my Flash Drive Disk no is Disk 1.
4. Next type all the below commands one by one. Here I assume that your disk drive No. is “Disk 1”.If you have Disk 2 as your USB flash drive then use Disk 2.Refer the above step to confirm it.
So below are the commands you need to type and execute one by one:
SELECT DISK 1
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT FS=NTFS
(Format process may take few seconds)
ASSIGN
EXIT
Don’t close the command prompt as we need to execute one more command at the next step. Just minimize it.
5. Next insert your Windows7/Vista DVD into the optical drive or If you have a Windows 7/Vista ISO image mount it to a virtual CD/DVD Drive using UltraISO or any other program like DAEMON Tools and check the drive letter of the DVD drive. In this guide I will assume that your DVD drive letter is “G” and USB drive letter is “H” (open my computer to know about it).
6. Maximize the minimized Command Prompt in the 4th step.Type the following command now:
G: CD BOOT and hit enter. Where “G” is your DVD drive letter.
CD BOOT and hit enter.
7. Type another command BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60 H: and hit enter Where “H” is your USB drive letter to update the USB drive with BOOTMGR compatible code. Then you will see the below message.
8. Copy your Windows 7/Vista DVD contents to the USB flash drive.
9. Your USB drive is ready to boot and install Windows 7/Vista. Only thing you need to change the boot priority at the BIOS to USB from the HDD or CD ROM drive. I won’t explain it as it’s just the matter the changing the boot priority or enabling the USB boot option in the BIOS.
Notes:
* If you are not able to boot after following this guide means you haven’t set the BIOS priority to USB or your Motherboard doesn't support boot from USB Drive.
* You can make (using this way) any USB Drive a bootable one for any purposes not just only for Installing Windows 7/Vista. Or using another way Check this page Hiren's BootCD From USB Flash Drive.
* If you got any problem in following this guide feel free to ask questions by leaving comment.
C. The Third Way (Utility to Create Bootable USB Drive to Install Windows Vista, Server 2008 and 7):
Imagine a situation where you need to install Windows Vista or 7 in a system but you don't have access to DVD drive. We all know Windows Vista, Server 2008 or 7 comes in DVDs and you'll need a DVD drive to install them. Then how will you install them? The solution is, you can create a bootable USB drive which can be used to install Windows without using DVD drive.
We have posted a detailed tutorial to create such bootable USB drive long time back, you can read about it here.
The above method is very easy to follow but wouldn't it be great if we can use a utility to do the whole task automatically? Our reader "Aris" has created a small utility exclusively for AskVG readers which creates a bootable USB drive to install Windows Vista, Server 2008 or 7.
Prerequisites:
* A USB Drive (4 GB or more)
* Windows Vista, Server 2008 or 7 ISO image or DVD
* Host OS: Windows Vista (SP1 or SP2), Server 2008 or 7
How to Use:
Once you meet the requirements, run the utility. Its a portable utility so doesn't need installation. Simply run it and check the option "I have read and accepted the following License Agreement". Now click on OK button and it'll launch the main application.
It also shows a Help window so that you can use the utility easily. The utility requires only 4 easy steps to follow:
* Check USB drive (To check whether your USB drive is attached or not)
* Format USB drive
* Choose DVD or ISO image (To copy the required files to USB drive)
* Start the process to create bootable USB drive
Download Link:
Download A Bootable USB application (7z and EXE) from Aris SkyDrive
Download A Bootable USB application (ZIP) from Mediafire
Download A Bootable USB application (RAR) from Mediafire
Download A Bootable USB application (EXE) from Mediafire
PS: It also works in 64-bit Windows versions.
Thanks again to "Aris" for creating this utility for AskVG readers...

Speed up web browsing with OpenDNS
Monday, December 28, 2009 10:45:05 PM

When you type in a domain name such as www.wingeek.com in your browser the computer must resolve the friendly name into an IP address of the server to download the web page and supporting files. Windows uses a DNS (domain name system) server to lookup this information. By default, Windows uses your ISP’s DNS server. Depending on your provider, the performance of their DNS resolving server varies. Some large national providers are known to provide unreliable and slow DNS servers.
The performance of the DNS server you are using is one component that affects the speed of your internet browsing. Since each domain name you type in must be resolved into an IP address, the amount of time that takes will delay the loading of any web page. Some users with overloaded ISP DNS servers can see delays in multiple seconds before web pages start to load.
OpenDNS provides free alternative DNS servers that anyone can use with any internet provider. Unlike many national internet providers, OpenDNS’s DNS servers are very fast and reliable. Using OpenDNS servers instead of your ISP servers will help you speed up your internet browsing by cutting down on the delay between resolving a domain name and getting the IP address so your browser can start loading the web page.
Configuring your computer to use OpenDNS servers instead of your ISP’s is a simple change that works in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7:
1. Click on the Start Button and type in ncpa.cpl and hit Enter. In Windows XP Click on the Start Button, click Run and then type in ncpa.cpl
2. Right click on your active network connection that you use to connect to the Internet and select Properties.
3. On the Networking / General tab, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (version 4 on Windows Vista & 7) and hit Properties.
4. On the properties screen, select Use the following DNS server addresses and then type in 208.67.222.222 in the preferred and 208.67.220.220 in the alternate boxes.
5. Hit OK twice and you are finished.
Visit www.OpenDNS.com to learn more about some of the advanced features of OpenDNS on top of the speed benefits.
Windows 7 and the changing world.

You told us what you wanted. We listened.
This Windows® 7 Product Guide highlights
the new and improved features that will
help deliver the one thing you said you
wanted the most:
Your PC, simplified.
PCs are an integral part of the daily lives of billions of people around the world. They are
used for more functions than anyone could have imagined just a few years ago, and as
PCs become more deeply woven into our everyday lives, our expectations keep increasing.
With Windows® 7, you told us what you expect from a PC. And we listened.
In Windows 7 we’ve developed hundreds of little improvements and a few big ones that
add up, frankly, to a whole lot less. Less waiting, less clicks, less hassle connecting to devices,
less power consumed and less overall complexity.
And with less of what you don’t need, your PC running Windows 7 will help you do more
by making everyday tasks simpler and easier. Windows 7 is clean and uncluttered, with
a streamlined interface that puts the tasks you want to accomplish right at your fi ngertips.
You have more control over where to put the things you use most often. Managing
multiple windows is easier. And we’ve improved search so that you can fi nd the information
you want quickly.
We’ve made it easier to add PCs to your home network, share fi les between networked
PCs, and use and manage other connected devices like cell phones, cameras, and MP3
players. Even browsing the Internet is easier thanks to improvements in Windows Internet
Explorer® 8.
You asked for improvements in the basic fundamentals like performance, responsiveness,
safety, reliability, and compatibility. We designed Windows 7 to start up, shut down, and
resume from sleep quickly so you don’t have to wait as long to get stuff done. We’ve
reduced the number of system prompts that can interrupt your day. And you’ll have greater
control over what your kids can do on the PC. Even better, you’ll fi nd innovative ways to
safeguard your personal data—all while getting more ways to personalize your PC and
make it truly your own.
With Windows 7, we’ve also made new things possible. You’ll fi nd fresh ways to enjoy and
share your music, photos, video, and recorded TV when and where you want regardless of
how or where it’s stored. Windows 7 gives you more ways to access your data and work
productively from any location including making it easier to connect to wireless networks.
And we’ve added new ways to interact with your PC through touch-enabled screens.
In the enterprise, the role of the PC is evolving just as quickly as it is in the home. With
Windows 7, IT professionals have more ways to help their people get more done—more
securely and from more locations—while still maintaining control over increasingly complex
computing environments.
Welcome to Windows 7.
Designing Windows 7
More than a billion people use Microsoft® Windows every day. You use it
in significant ways, like earning a living. You use it in personally meaningful
ways, such as using a webcam to visit with a faraway loved one. And you
experience it in small ways, like playing your favorite song or whiling away
a few minutes with a game. Though each situation might be different, your
satisfaction relies on one thing: that your PC works, plain and simple.
In designing Windows 7, we focused on creating a better experience,
regardless of what you do on your PC. And although we’ve made some
architectural changes in Windows 7, we’ve focused mainly on building
upon the platform improvements of the Windows Vista® and Windows
Server® 2008 operating systems.
By definition, a great PC experience means seamless operation across all of your hardware, software, and devices. We want to make sure you have a broad choice for the programs and devices you use with your PCs. Today, the Windows Vista Compatibility Center lists more than 10,500 applications and 9,500 devices with a compatible download or driver version. In most cases, the same software and hardware that works on Windows Vista will also work on Windows 7.
Furthermore, we were careful to design Windows 7 so that the investments that our partners and our enterprise customers have made in Windows Vista will continue to deliver great value as they upgrade to Windows 7. We’ve worked closely with our partners from the earliest planning phase. Before writing code, we talked to original equipment manufacturers, the companies that make PCs. Before defining application programming interfaces, we talked to developers. And before adding support for new devices, we worked with device manufacturers to understand how next-generation hardware could create new scenarios.
Market Trends that Inspired Windows 7
As we planned Windows 7, we took a hard look at how the world of technology is changing and what
that means for you. In doing so, we identified some key themes that influenced our engineering design
efforts and helped us to focus on where we could deliver the highest value to you.
• Hardware advances. Since Tablet PCs with touch screens were introduced more than five years
ago, a whole range of new devices has made touch technology more popular. Similarly, the
reduced cost of random access memory (RAM) has led many more people to use 64-bit processors.
Other advances include solid-state drives (SSDs), faster wireless networking, enhanced
Bluetooth connectivity, multicore central processing units (CPUs), and powerful new graphics
accelerators.
• Expanded diversity and sophistication of devices. The type and range of devices continue
to expand. Nearly 1,500 new Plug and Play devices are identified each day, with more than 4
million expected by 2010. At the same time, devices like MP3 players and mobile phones store
more information and offer more features than ever before.
• Growth of mobile computing. In the United States, portable computers are becoming more
prevalent than desktops, and we’re seeing a growing variety of them, like small notebook PCs,
ultra-mobile PCs, and Tablet PCs.
• More connection options. People want to get online easily and stay online using whatever
Internet connection is available. Furthermore, people want to be able to access work and home
information, no matter where they are.
• Connecting multiple PCs in the home. Today, more than half of U.S. households have more
than one PC—yet setting up a home network can still be a challenge. For many people, it’s even
more difficult to manage, find, and share information across multiple PCs.
• More digital media. People now have access to more types of digital media than ever, including
music, video, TV, photos, and an ever-increasing amount of rich content on the Web. This
media needs to be easier to find, use, and share—digital media should be accessible through
more devices without any added complexity, regardless of whether people are listening to music
on wireless headphones or watching movies on a big-screen TV.
• A rapidly evolving Web. Browsing the Web remains the single most popular activity on the
PC, with people spending more time—and doing more things—online. They want a Web
browsing experience that supports all that the Web has to offer, with everyday tasks and
content at their fingertips. They want easier ways to connect with friends and interact with
social networks. And they also want protection from hackers, malicious software (malware),
and other Internet-based threats.
• Increased focus on costs. Although businesses often adopt new operating systems for better
security and quantifiable cost savings, application and device compatibility can prevent them
from moving forward. IT professionals need to know that adopting new technologies will make
running and managing PCs easier, help increase data security, and extend the investments they
have already made in existing applications and devices.
To be continued ...
