Marius & Gina (+Tascha)

the story of us and our little world...

We went down in the underground !

, , , ...

... and we actually enjoyed it very much. Too bad we don't have that much time to do it more often.

The mystery of the caves are getting more and more interesting. For the first time we actually put step in a big cave and a more serious one.

We walked for 2 or 3 km up and down, being careful where we put our feet on so that we won't fall or get hurt. We smelled the bats shit :D , we walked on mud and slippery sand, we endured the humility of being the last ones in the team, because of the lack of training, but we did good overall.

They actually made fun of us and at some point our friend Doru came to us and told us that the whole team is pissed of because we are too slow and they decided it was better for us to return only with Doru and they would reach us after, because they were faster. So, guided by Doru, we took the returning path but at some point he said he wanted to take some picture and he left us there alone between the bats... and in the silent dark... and it was also starting to get a bit chilly... We stayed and waited but there was nothing in front of us and nothing in the back... and we knew it isn't really smart to find our way ourselves because we didn't really know the way. And before panic would take hold of us, he appeared laughing saying we should go back to the team because it was a joke. MF...

But between the stalactites and the stalagmites and all forms of stones in the light of our flashlight, it is absolutely impressive and unforgettable

... checking up the trains in Riga

, , , ...

On the 29th of December we packed and went to spend New Year with Clau (Gina's best friend) who decided that Romania is not for him and he moved to Riga for good.

It was a very interesting experience for us because we discovered how others live and think and what can be done in a quiet little town where the night lasts for only 3 hours during the summer.

Some things about Riga:
- huge prices compared to Bucharest
- beautifull girls :D
- many strip bars and casinos
- a lot of money from the porn industry
- bad weather nervous
- nice people, especially Clau's friends

But the nicest of them all was that we had the chance to visit Riga's Railway Museum and check on real russians old trains and also an indoor layout made by the caretakers of the museum and which looks really really good.. We were impressed  .

And Dora.
And Clau.

Beautiful Romania: Parang, Jiu River Valley

, , , ...

This weekend, our friend Doru took us in his super 4x4 car to the mountains, deep in the Jiu river valley (where most of Romania's coal is extracted). We've spent a great weekend in a nice house on top of the Parang mountain, with GREAT view of the valley.

Also, we managed to enter a cavern, and walked its whole length (including through the underground river which got our boots full of water). Creepy but also nice, the cave is very interesting, especially when you have someone to tell you what everything is (Doru knows so many about caves).

see the pictures...

All in all... we want again!

game of the day: Vodafone Xmas :)

,

 this is the game Gina is quite good at: www.vodafone.ro/xmas (romanian only).:psmurf:

Getting trained for MORIA !

, , , ...

Our dear friend Doru finally decided to share with us his passion: the beauty of the caves and surroundings. He's a bit crazy and he managed to makes us become crazy too: about the nature, about the mountains, about discovering the deep cracks of the earth with theirs stalactites, stalagmites, bats, worms... yummy.

We didn't actually go too deep... we are begginers, so we only tasted the cave of Scarisoara and the Coiba Mare entrance...

Our little world

It's finally happening!
After more than 100 test layouts, building a table, after moving it from one part of the room to the other and then back to its initial position and then in another corner again, we finally started the real thing: the making of our little piece of world.

What's all about? Well, we like to play, so we decided to make our own game! The idea is to find dispersed goods wagons on the layout set which then we have to pick up with a locomotive and transport to different locations in the shortest time possible. You begin only with the locomotive and it's up to you to find the best ways to win the race. There are also passenger trains which run constantly and having priority at all times so it's not very nice when you have all the wagons full and ready to deploy but you have to wait until the passenger train passes...

Today we put the embankment and fixed the rails with nails, we mixed colours and painted the ground, "planted" the grass and small flowers, and there you have a beautiful and absolutely amazing piece of art.

We are very happy that finally our horse has food to eat.

... so hard to build a table

, , , ...

as previously stated in our blog, we intend to build an indoor layout for our trains, approximatively 4.5sqm. but for that, we first need to create the table for it.

We have bought wood (all sorts and sizes), iron "legs", screws, hammer, a jig-saw and everything. The most difficult part was the design.
It had to be: BIG, MODULAR, SOLID, LIGHT, and so on.. in few words: PERFECT.

For two days we've worked on it.. and here it is
Now it STANDS, it is solid, we can divide it in small pieces and get it through the doors P:

Going to the next step.. terraforming

lovely Greece again...

, , , ...

now, don't get the wrong picture.. we DO like to go in new places. BUT, I think every summer we need a "shot" of Aegeean air in our lungs. This is why, we went again to Greece, for just few days with the car.

It's not very far from Bucharest (~8 hours driving) to Kavala, in the northern part of Greece. From there, we got on a huge ferry, and spent 1.5 hours surrounded by seagulls (who were actually eating from our hands). Then, few relaxed days in a very very very very nice athmosphere. Basically, in Greece, no one is in a hurry to do anything. They just go with the flow, and for us, this is completely amazing. And peacefull.

See the pictures.. you will understand why we love it.

Vama Veche

Some weekends ago we decided to go to the Black Sea and check on the fishes there... Bogdan and Ana came along. We arrived in Vama Veche where Laura and Cip were wainting for us. They were already black when we arrived :D .

We got installed in the camping site in our big tent (the biggest of them all  ) because nothing compares with sleeping in a tent on the beach: you wake up and all you see is the big blue ! (big black in our case)
and then off in B52 with our friends for some music and dancing.

This Vama Veche village right on the beach is a very cool village. All hippies gather there and they give the place a special flavour. You can also find some crazy drunk ones assleep in others tents or right on the beach in the sun, but it's ok  shuuuut ! just let them rest.

In days like these, you just feel like everything is perfect .

Nicolae Balcescu, Valcea, Romania

Every year Victor invites us to his birthday at his parents' house in Valcea. It is a small quiet village uphills, with some cute little houses and where we party day and night and enjoy the good weather, Victor's hospitality and GREAT FOOD ! Thank you Victor and happy happy birthday  !

PS: Ma' fishty learned how to play Ping-Pong !!!! And he's really good at it   :D
