On the face of it, neither are comparable because TM is one distance and Spartan Race is a series (three official distances, with a few others thrown in). However, a Spartan Beast and Tough Mudder are comparable, as they are similar distances (though some Super Spartans are closer to half marathon distance than the 8 miles they advertise). I can tell you having done all the Spartans that their obstacles are not terribly tough, just grueling after a while. If you're on mile 10 of 13 and you have to carry a 50lb sandbag up and down a mountain, you're not going to be happy no matter what, that's common in a Spartan Race. But it's different when you have to run through two electrified wire obstacles and you _have_ to get shocked with a freezing cold dunk in a water tank between them, that's Tough Mudder. Tough Mudder wants to physically hurt you, Spartan Race wants to grind you to exhaustion.
