Duck Hunt was a simple shooter that provided hours of distraction. The Wi zapper games, including the Link’s Crossbow Training demo show what the Wii can do with the shooter genre. The graphics of Duck Hunt are true in spirit to the original, although the flash format allows more detail than the 8-bit hardware than the original Nintendo Entertainment system ever could. The familiar touches are there. The tree and the grass look much like they did in the original game. The dog adds a few touches that were not in the original. He celebrates by bringing the quarry to the player and occasionally laughs at the player when he misses three or more shots in a row.

A flash version of Duck Hunt will probably never compete with mmorpgs, but Duck Hunt by Silver games is ideal for a casual player looking to kill a few hours it has much to offer. The one downside to the game is that the mouse controls are sluggish. The mouse does not move smoothly across the screen. It snaps to various locations. The best strategy is shooting the area of the screen close to the area where the player thinks the duck will be when the shot lands.

Duck Hunt is a flash game that is true to the original, even if it cannot provide the same level of play that the original possessed. If someone figures out a way to attach the NES gun to the PC that statement might change.
