The desperation sets in..

Just. Just listen to this. I implore you to take the time, and listen to the entire thing.
What happens here is that Mr. Levin, Carl Levin - the chairman of the Armed Services committee - is taking questions about his latest trip to Iraq. Carl Levin is also - even though it's impossible to notice, a Democrat, and supposedly not in favour of the Iraq war.
But that, of course, does not mean he is opposed to foreign policy ventures, nation building and general follies of this kind.
In fact, referring to the previous post, it seems proper to highlight the fact that the principled limits Mr. Levin presumes to impose on the expansive american foreign policy is, apart from how much opposed they are to Bush, non- existent. In the same way that Levin is not for intervention into the affairs of foreign governments, but nevertheless calls for Maliki's resignation and/or a vote of no confidence in the Iraqi national assembly.
Really, the thinking is ridiculous. Here they're putting forth the idea that if they threaten with withdrawing american troops, the Iraqis are going to wisen up and do everything the US tells them to do - on the oil- law, a central government in Bagdad, opposition to Iran, bases in Mosul, etc., etc. Or else.. what? The US is going to bomb the place to bits one more time and install bases forcefully and manhandle Iraq into accepting a federal government?
Oh, the Irony.
So what does Levin of the opposition proclaim is now the problem, now that the US may have to "threaten" with a "withdrawal"? Why, it's the Iraqis, of course. Those fucking ungrateful Iraqis.
I know I should be careful about writing things like this in public - but frankly, if someone were to ruin the entire US, wreck it's infrastructure, drive the majority of the population into either refugee status or utter dependency on the state, and leave it in the hands of the last die- hard religious fanatics that wants to eradicate non- christians in the name of the Lord, while enacting legislation and carrying through policies based purely on ideological and religious wishful thinking... oh, wait.. haha. How silly of me *shakes head*.
