What is punditry? What is critique?

Is there a difference? Timeless questions.. for the times.. er..
There used to be something called "kronikk", in our newspapers. It's derived from the word "chronica", I think, which suggests a recount or tale of events inside a time- frame, and is vaguely translateable to the similar word "chronicle". But - a "kronikk" (I thought) always referred to a sharp commentary on contemporary events, putting the main point of a commonly used argument, or a current case, in context. And whenever I read the word "kronikk" in the paper, I would ease myself into a state of mind where I would expect to learn something new about what was going on.
