What's it about? It's a battle between consistent ratings, loyal viewers and the advertisement money.
Secondary to that, is the war between newsoutrage, and actual coverage of issues. But how to differentiate between those two wars, and not end up mixing up actual valuable coverage with simply placating the loyalist base? Which you would then use to condemn coverage of certain issues, that happen to be politically disagreeable to you, as sheer sensationalism - unlike the wise&serious coverage that happens to agree with your political views?
