Black Star News, an investigative newspaper in New York, has published a post by reporter Colin Benjamin who claims the leak of classified documents by WikiLeaks shows the mainstream media were “too cosy with power”.

According to Benjamin, the leaked documents paint a “starkly different picture” than that portrayed by US authorities. The material also puts the spotlight on media failures to hold those in power to account, he adds.

So what is Wikileaks? It's a small editorial board of folks publishing documents from anonymous sources.

Sounds like any other newspaper, obviously. Except they're not beholden to a particular government, and have shown they are interested in showing the facts, as well as have some ability to see if they're being used for propaganda purposes.

..aaand then they suddenly became better than any other newspaper out there, and we see why it's filling a very required niche in the news-world.

In other words - like the blogpost says, the existence of wikileaks is an indictment of mainstream media. And what else is new..

Robert Byrd, longest serving Senator in the history of the US, dies.Hah!
