World Cup Fever is here in England!!!

, , , ...

Now being an England fan, I am used to getting my hopes sky high and then having them dashed in the quarter or semi finals of big championships such as the World Cup!!! I am extremely excited about the World Cup this year though. We have probably one of the best teams we have ever had which include Robinson (GK), Cole (D), Terry (D), Carragher(D), Ferdinand (D), Beckham (M), Lampard (M), Gerrard (M), Rooney (F), Owen (F) who are all superstars and I think that they are a highly spirited team with some very influential players.

Now I know Rooney is injured, but he is young and in my opinion will be fit to play his part in the World Cup, maybe not from the start, but hopefully in the later stages. I am very pleased with Sven's inclusion of Aaron Lennon who has had an amazing first full season at Tottenham Hotspur. Although still only 19, he has clearly made his mark on the Premiership and after having a sensational 2005/ 2006 season, Sven rightly included him in his World Cup Squad!

The shock, however, has come in the form of a very young Theo Walcott. Although I am over the moon for the boy (I am an Arsenal fan you see), I find it hard to comprehend how his addition is going to aid the England boys. Theo has NEVER played a game in the Premiership and had only played a few games for Southampton in the Championship before his 5 million move to Arsenal in January 2006. Even Wenger was 'shocked' at the call up. But if Walcott does make the final squad selection - I wish him the best of luck and I hope he shines!

Lastly, I have to say I am left wondering if Sven is just having a joke with this year as he failed to call up Darren Bent, who has had the best season of his career. The 21 year old who plays for Charlton Athletic, has scored 22 goals this season. 18 of them in the league and 4 in domestic cups!!! So when you think that Sven has included Theo Walcott with NO Premiership experience at the tender age of 17 and has left out Darren Bent who is one of the Premiership leading scorers this season, it makes me think that he clearly doesn't care anymore, he would just like his settle ment money and can't wait to leave his post as England manager!!!

But overall - whoever goes to the World Cup - I will be 100% behind them! COME ON ENGLAND!!!
