Living and Loving

by fluffybunny

Congratulations Opera on 500,000 members!

It was Christmas time 2004 when I became a member of the 'Opera Community' . Christmas is a very boring time in my industry, people are far too pre-occupied with the Xmas/ January sales so I had a lot of 'surfing' time on my hands. I had recently just upgraded my phone to the snazzy (at the time!) Nokia 7610. Being the complicated phone it was, it took me a good couple of months to utilise all of the features. The last of these features was the red 'O' in the middle of the screen. Wanting to know more about this feature, I looked it up on the internet and Voila! the Opera experience had begun! I browsed the site for a while and stumbled across the 'My Opera Community' and seeing as I always signed up for almost everything, I thought 'why not?'

Although I was blogging elsewhere at the time, I would copy all of my posts over to Opera religiously. After a couple of months I had some regular commenters and people who really did seem to enjoy my writing. It was a much more mature audience that I was attracting, so I decided to eventually give up on the other site and continue with my Opera blog! I updated almost every day with all the juicy gossip on love, life and work. In December of 2005, I was named 'Member of the Week'. I was shocked that my blog was that popular but I was overjoyed by this recognition.

During my almost two years here, I have made some incredible friends from all over the world! Joni, Ivan, Lokutus Prime, Q-Ell, Karen, Sarah, Dan and Yum to name a few.

Another of my main reasons for my divine loyalty to Opera is in fact the Opera Team themselves. They have done an amazing job with the community in the past year. Going from a very simple, not very attractive layout to what it is today - Brilliant! They have always been very personable, helpful and keen to get feedback so that they can improve and be the best.

Thank you Opera for this experience it is one to remember

Hi CL.

Yes, it's true. Opera Community is one of the best things available on the web.
Great friends I found here. Comfort, advise, everything that you all, my friends, provide me.. I have to thank you and Opera.

Let's wait for what comes next for the Community ('cause it doesn't stop growing and improving), and let's spread the word.

Love,
Dan

Hi Fluffy,
Great story, and I agree. I'm happy that Opera now has 500,000 members. Opera should be one of the biggest blog sites out there in due time. This site has some great people (yourself included Fluffy) and the site has been improving over the years. I can say that I'm glad that I've joined Opera and will definetly continue to visit with the great people here. Keep blogging about your life and we'll keep on visiting

Love,
Marcus

Hi Fluffy, as a Scandinavian origin (from The People´s Democratic Republic of Nokia) I´ll stick to Opera! By the way; Nokia started as a manufacturer of gum boots and toilet paper - you may decide if there is an inner context between these two items...p:
