Tokyo Metro Cards

Tokyo Metro Card

I was looking through some old stuff and found my collection of Tokyo Metro Cards. I've kept all the ones I liked. This one is probably my favorite.

I wish they had such beautiful Metro cards here in Oslo, then I would buy them just for fun.

I've heard of their Metro Cards before when they appeared in a 2002 or so issue of Communication Arts. Mind scanning the rest of em so we can take a peek?

The Japanese printed below says "God of Wine, Dionysus, and Ariadne". Unfortunately those magnetic cards will not be able to be used in ticket gates from March 15, 2008. It may buy ticket at machines. New cards are precharged contactless RFID card over here.

Thanks for the translation Saito. I'm sorry to hear that the magnetic cards won't work anymore. But I hope the new ones will be good.

Khadgar, maybe. I don't have a scanner at home right now though, only at work.

So it's a reproduction of a painting? I usually hold on to nice looking phone cards like that, but not too long after they expire.

Can't wait for the introduction of contactless public transport cards in my city: apparently it will name the owner, and so hopefully the design can be customized

Fredrik, do you know if these cards were already around in august/2006?
I didn't use the underground back then... In Tokyo you have so many different options that I just settled for the surface transport.
If I knew about such beautifull cards I would certainly have taken the metro just to keep the them

In Brazil metro doesn't use the card system.
We have quite nice telephone cards though... These were the first ones to be distributed in the entire country: http://telecartofilistas.blogspot.com/2008/01/artistas-brasileiros-primeira-srie-da.html
I had the first one on this list, and I had no idea it was really the first one of it's kind...

Yes, they were. I think they have been around for a long time, but as Saito mentioned they will switch to a new system soon..

You should have kept that phone card.

I couldn't find the phone card, but I have the feeling that it is somehow "safely" lost amongst all the stuff I keep in my bedroom and one day, when I am not looking for it, I will simply find it. It always works.
