Sci-Fi art

sci-fi art

There's a lot of great sci-fi artists out there. The other day I came across the website of Christian Lorenz Scheurer. His sci-fi art gallery is amazing and you should really check it out to see his imaginative paintings.

I wonder why we create so many wonderful things in paintings and movies, but not in reality. I wish architectures would be more brave and create more sci-fi style buildings and cities. big smile

Visiting Japan / Part 1

Tatsuki and Harumi

Last autumn I visited my friend Tatsuki in Tokyo for two weeks. It was my first time in Japan and I really liked it! Tokyo is amazing and I love big cities with skyscrapers and neonlights everywhere.

The first night we went out to a sushi restaurant in Shibuya. It was a lot of fun and it felt almost unreal to know that the day before I was in Oslo, but now I were on the other side of the globe with my japanese friends having a good time.

Tatsuki and Harumi showed me around Tokyo the first weekend and we had a great time. One of my favorite moments were when we visited a samurai house in the Komaba park.

I have always been fashinated with Japan and the japanese culture. It was good to see how well the old culture was integrated with the modern lifestyle. Every temple, shrine and japanese garden were like a small oasis of calm in the big city.

Visiting Japan / Part 2

Tokyo

At the Meiji Shrine in the Yoyogi park we saw a traditional japanese wedding and kids dressed up in beautiful kimonos celebrating Shichi-Go-San.

One night we went to the SEGA Joypolis amusement park and played a lot of crazy games, such as the halfpipe canyon [video]. The japanese definetly take gaming seriously. big smile

Another great moment were when we visited the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and had a relaxing time at the sky bar. I felt just like Bill Murray in Lost in Translation when I looked out over Tokyo at night. It was beautiful.

After a few days in Tokyo I travelled around Japan by myself and visited Nikko, Kyoto and Osaka.

I was surprised to see that Osaka had even more neon signs than Tokyo. The Dotonbori disctrict was straight out of the Blade Runner movie with building-height animated neon signs everywhere.

Visiting Japan / Part 3

me

The Toshogu Shrine and the Rinnoji Temple in Nikko were impressive, but I found my favorite shrine in Kyoto. Walking along the hiking trails of the Fushimi Inari shrine and seeing the countless torii gates was really special. It gave me a feeling of peace inside.

The old Gion district in Kyoto was also very beautiful and it was of course exiting to see real Geishas and Maiko (apprentice Geisha).

When I got back to Tokyo we went out partying all night and singing karaoke. It was my first time singing and I'm proud that I did, considering my not-so-good voice control.

The following days I spend shopping in Tokyo and I just enjoyed the big city life. One of the best things was all the street bands that was playing next to the Yoyogi park. I recorded two short video clips of Jokers [video] and Shuriken [video].

My trip to Japan was great and I want to go back soon..

The Magic Numbers

Magic numbers

The Magic Numbers is one of the best indie pop bands I have heard in a long time. They are a foursome of two brother and sister pairs from London/New York, and their self titled debut album is really great.

Last night I watched a Magic Numbers concert on TV and it was just fantastic. It was recorded at my favorite rock club, Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg/Sweden. I wish I had been there and seen it live. You can also see the concert since Swedish TV are so nice and let you stream it from their site.

My favorite songs are Mornings eleven, I see you, you see me and Wheels on fire.

You can listen to more songs on The Magic Numbers Web site.

Medieval Week 05 / Part 1

me and robert

Last summer my friends and I visited the medieval week on Gotland. It's a wonderful festival in the medieval city Visby where everyone dress up in medieval clothes and party all night long.

I had the time of my life and I wish I could have stayed longer. It was all magic. The mood, the cool historic places, the medieval music and the friendly people. It all made me open up and be more social than I usually am. I enjoyed my life to the fullest and I knew that life once again had a meaning.

If I could be anywhere right now, I would be sitting next to my friends in the grass by "Nordergravar" looking at the at the beautiful sunset by the ocean, drinking cider and homemade mead.

In the photo you can see me and Robert walking down to the ocean to meet Daniel and his friends who were partying on the beach. Later that night we went to the medieval bar Effes and had a great time!

Medieval Week 05 / Part 2

me and henrik

At the market place we got our own medieval clothes and it made everything even better. It's a wonderful feeling to walk the streets of Visby at night in medieval clothes and meet nothing but medieval knights, fair maidens, jesters, monks and pirates. :D

There's a lot of performances to see during the week and I saw an excellent show called "Mögel i Djungelbacken" by Jauvet. I liked it so much that I went back another day to see it again.

One thing I really like about the medieval week is that everyone is so friendly. I'll quote Daniel on a thing he said when we walked through the botanical gardens:

You can say hi to anyone you meet and they will always be friendly and start a conversation. For me, this is the essence of the medieval week.

My friends and I had a great time in Visby and we will definetly go back the next time. I'm sure it will be just as good. I'm really looking forward to it and I hope to see you there.

Classic game for your mobile

speedball 2

Today when I read the latest issue of What Mobile I saw a full page ad for a mobile Java game, and I instantly recognized it as Speedball 2! :D

At first I got surprised, but then I just smiled. Speedball 2 is one of my favorite classic games and it brings back many good memories from when I played it on my Amiga 500. It's more than a ordinary sports simulator and I think this quote from the game description says it all:

Speedball 2 is the ideal game for lovers of serious ultra-violence.

I have always liked the games made by The Bitmap Brothers, such as: Cadaver, Chaos Engine, Gods and Xenon. I usually don't play games on my mobile, but if I would play something it would be Speedball 2.

Trance

IDT

Yesterday I bought my first songs from ID&T's online music store Dance-Tunes.com. It's a great site with lots of good music. I definetly recommend it!

The best thing is that you get all the songs without copy protection and certificates. It's just plain MP3 files with good quality - like it should be. The prices are also good, specially if you buy one of the bundles.

Here's a few samples:

Opera Community themes

Garden State

This weekend I designed a new Opera Community theme. It's almost finished and I hope to release it soon. I have also started designing two more themes, but I won't show any pictures yet. p: :D Instead I'll post a picture of the movie Garden State that I watched while designing the new theme.

If you like Garden State you might want to check out the video post in Zach Braff's blog.

And Zach, if you read this.. why not move your blog to Opera Community? I'll help you customize the design. :D
