Another World paintings

another world paintings

I wanted my new apartment to be just the way I like it, so I decided to make my own framed wall paintings instead of buying some. For the living room I choosed to make two framed paintings (70*50 cm) with in-game screenshots from one of my favorite games; Another World.

I like the pixel art of old computer games and these two paintings came out really well. When I brought them from the print house to work everyone was stunned how cool they were, so now they want me to make some for the office as well. :D

Here's two big files, if you want to print your own: 1, 2.

Wow... That's really cool. I'm still triggered with the idea of The day of the Tentacle mural piece. That would probably scare off women for ever, but hey, if they don't have their pop-cultural library in order, then we probably don't have anything in common.

BTW: Is that your new couch? I wanna see more pictures of your new place!

Another World screenshots on the wall? Awesome.
Day of the Tentacle mural? Double awesome!

Dude, that is freaking awesome. I've always loved Another World's artistic quality (even the mundane caverns are works of art!), but it had never occured to me to try and frame a scene.

What about Monkey Island? I know you desire some Monkey Island pictures.

How did you get these printed, by the way? The only place I know of here I can get one-offs done is at Kinkos, and well... having employees that care nothing about what they're printing print my stuff is just wrong. I can print them myself at 17"x19", but that's nowhere near big enough.

I guess I could screen print them at 70cm! It'd be interesting to do spot color separations for that huge of a picture, but hella-expensive to print just one.

I've also always liked the minimalistic art of Another World. It looks surprisingly good in print, specially the low res stuff.

Yes, I thought about making Monkey Island posters, but I choosed Another World first because the style of the graphics is more clean.

I printed it at a local print house called Arkitektkopia. They mostly do stuff for companies, but were happy to help me. They print on anything up to 5cm thick and said that I could even print on a door if I wanted; they would just place the door in the printer and press go... :D

EspenAO 29. May 2008, 18:33

Sweet. This would be pretty cool door print, just remove everything but yourself and adjust it so it looks like you're staring at the door nob.

fred 29. May 2008, 18:38

Haha... well..

Khadgar 29. May 2008, 19:22

Nah one of those tentacles on the door would be ace. Man I wish there was some place like that here. What kind of paper did you get it printed on or did you have it printed on canvas?

fred 29. May 2008, 20:51

Some good paper. Not sure about the details.
