Arn: The Knight Templar

Arn - The Knight Templar

It's just another week until Arn: The Knight Templar premieres in Sweden. I have been looking forward to this movie for a long time. It's based on Jan Guillou's trilogy about the Swedish Knights Templar Arn Magnusson.

The story is set in 12th century Sweden, not far from the place where I grew up. The main character, Arn, is raised in a Cistercian monastery, and trained in archery and swordsmanship by a former Knights Templar. When he leaves the monastery and returns to his family, he is pulled into the powerstruggle for the crown of what is to become the Kingdom of Sweden. He is also sent to the Holy Land as a Knight Templar to do penance for forbidden love.

This is the most expensive film production in Scandinavian history, and I hope it lives up to the expectations. They have at least put a lot of effort into the details. For example, the swords are handmade by Albion Europe.

It's all coming together nicely. I'm currently reading "The Last Templar" by Raymond Khoury and I'm playing "Assassin's Creed". Everything with a history originating from the Third Crusade. Can't wait for Arn, though. Looks amazing.

Assassin's Creed rocks. I have been wanting to read that book too for some time. Is it good? It's the next book on my "must read list"..

It's a good book... A very entertaining piece of literature (with a lot more historical correct facts than the "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown — or so they say).

Sounds an interesting story.

Is this movie a way to make up for the lack of swedish war heroes? :D

Just kidding! I'm looking foreward to this movie.

It seems that you've been living two lives. One life, you're Fredrik Ø. Andersson, program writer for a respectable software company. You have a social security number, pay your taxes, and you... help your landlady carry out her garbage. The other life is lived in computers, where you go by the hacker alias "Fred" and are guilty of virtually every computer crime we have a law for. One of these lives has a merry Christmas, and one of them does not.

Is this movie going to be release in the United States, by any chance? Looks interesting! :knight:

fred 4. February 2008, 08:46

Yes, but they are waiting for the second movie to be finished first and then they will make both of them into one international release.
