White House

mattias and me infront of the white house

On the news they're talking about the Super Tuesday, so I thought it would be fitting to post this picture of me and Mattias infront of the White House in Washington, DC.

We never got to go inside, but as you can see the grass is greener on the other side.

I'm actually moving into a white house soon. Not the one on the picture though.

Btw, today is also the day of the Semla. I hope you are celebrating it. A note of caution though. Semlas are so good they can be dangerous. King Adolf Fredrik of Sweden actually died in 1771 by eating too many Semlas.

wow, you actually have a special day devoted just to cream cakes!?
Isn't there also one there where you all eat cinnamon buns?

I wish they did things like that here in Scotland
All we get is a day when everyone eats haggis. No cake for us :frown:

I'm disappointed you didn't bake any Sernias for us today... Very disappointed!

Yes, we have special days for cakes! :D For example, on November 6 it's the day of the Napoleonbakelse (Napoleon cake), and on December 13 we have Lussekatter (Saffron bun). If you translate "Lussekatt" literally it means "Lucia cats", or "St Lucy's cats".

Vetle, I'll make sure to bring some the next time.

what...there are even more??!! :eyes: It's like an endless year-round celebration of cake! I should have stayed in Sweden

Are all your cake days in the winter time?

Is there a special day when you all have that strange green covered cream cake 'princess tårta' too?

I have not thought about it, but it seems that most cake days are in the autumn/winter.

The last week of September is officially the week of the prinsesstårta (Princess Cake), but you can eat it all year round and it's quite popular for birthdays. The Princess Cake was created by Jenny Åkerström for the three Swedish princesses (Margaretha, Märtha, Astrid) who studied at her cooking school. She also wrote Prinsessornas Kokbok (The Princesses Cookbook).

Another fun thing about "Semlas" is that there's an official Swedish Semla Academy that takes Semlas very seriously.

Yours is the best blog layout/theme that I've seen so far:up: . I wonder if I will ever get to manipulate my css and make my blog look better. Zero knowledge about it.
