Back From Budapest

I'm not well known for travelling. I have no stamps in my passport. The first time I ever left the country was after my 18th birthday (the Bridlington speed boat doesn't count, apparently) and I've been on a grand total of 6 flights (for the absence of doubt, that's 3 round trips!). 2 of those flights happened this weekend when 7 friends and myself decided to leave the sunny inclines of Yorkshire, England for the slightly more exotic Budapest, Hungary.

My trip consisted of waking up on Thursday, driving 40 miles North to be driven 80 miles West for our flight to Budapest. Arriving in a town near Leeds at 10 in the morning and having no more driving to do meant the drinking could begin. My liver was to be given no respite for the rest of the holiday! We drank in the taxi to the airport, we drank in the airport, we drank in the taxi from the airport and we drank in the hostel while we unpacked! After a short break for an evening meal (served with even more beer) we headed out for our evening entertainment in the local bars.

I ended up being the most anti-social travelling partner to my friends! I enjoyed the company of the other guests at the hostel so much, I spent most of my time in the hostel playing drinking games and generally teaching the rest of the world about Yorkshire! It always amazes me how little it takes to get a student drunk! Students have no job, with so much time to practice it's amazing just how bad they really are at it! We had to literally carry one girl home who was beyond the capability of speech, let alone balance! It's made me much more confident for a certain drinking contest I have been challenged to this summer! I had practice in drinking and carrying girls home!

I was either that or leave her passed out in a club! Could barely talk to object!

She only kicked off when we tried to take her shoes off when she got into bed. She was adamant we weren't gonna take 'em off!

just kidding with you. you don't want to be a chav. You know with yourself it's better to be kind in situation like this than either leave her on the floor or take funny naked pictures of her while she is passed out although I can agree it would have made your stories a bit more interesting

Dammit! Maybe not naked but drawing a moustache + taking pictures would have really made me laugh! Missed my chance now!

You are sooo confident! We were drinking German beer, too. 13 cans of that stuff and still standing! We are drinking professionals!

Lightweight. You should have got a coach/taxi/lift to the airport. Then you could have had a drink before leaving home and on the way.

I got a taxi half way so I could drink on the way there. (My house to the airport is about 130 miles!)

Couldn't drink on the way back, though 'cause I had to drive home afterwards
