DUI Multiple Offender Program
Tuesday, November 6, 2007 10:41:11 PM
My letter to Scott Dunbar, Program Director of the "DUI Multiple Offender Program"
Mr. Dunbar:
I am in quite a predicament with my drivers lisence. I was convicted of my
3rd DUI in 5yrs in June 2000. I have completed the Drug and Alcohol Risk
Reduction Program, I completed 10 weeks of private counseling at
Behavioral Solutions Inc. with Joe Miller a Licensed Master Addiction
Counselor ( MAC ) , I also completed 12 weeks of counseling through
Spectrum Health Systems with Amy Nelson a Licensed Substance Abuse
Counselor (MC, LPC ) which was required by Georgia Department of Pardons
and Parole. I have all the necessary documentation to verify that I in deed
did complete the required treatment. I have my 7 yr. MVR which shows no
driving offences within the last 7 yrs. I have 3 notarized affidavits from
family and people in my community. I do not go to church therefore I will
not get an affidavit from a pastor and asking for an affidavit be filled out
my a member of the clergy is a violation of mine and others constitutional
rights ( Separation of Church and State ). I do not associate with Law
Enforcement agencies other than seeing my parole officer once a month.
I NEED MY DRIVERS LICENSE...Being that the suspension of my Drivers
License was up in June 2005 I am unable to obtain a temporary driving
permit. I am unable to obtain employment in the field that I am qualified
for because I do not have a driver license, which, I am sure is a
violation of my "Civil Rights" somehow.
The paragraph below is quoted from "Clinical Evaluation & Substance Abuse
Treatment for Multiple DUI Offenders - The Requirements of the Teenage &
Adult Driver Responsibility Act of 1997"
By the way, I think 10 yrs. is a little long not to make changes to the
procedure or not to have any more studies performed on the subject.
"There is a growing body of research that shows that length of time in
treatment is highly correlated with successful outcomes. That is, the
longer a substance abuse client stays in treatment the better the outcome.
This is true for clients who are mandated into treatment as well as
voluntary clients. Much of this same research shows that treatment lasting
less than 90 days is generally ineffective. The Emory study finds and
national research confirms that the incidence of serious substance abuse
and dependence problems is quite high in this population of multiple
offenders. Therefore, for many offenders, treatment of less than 120 days
will not prevent a referral to treatment by the clinical evaluator. In
fact, many of these offenders will need and be required to complete a
great deal more than 120 days of treatment."
The above statement is not entirely true. Sobriety depends on the persons
desire to stay sober. All the counseling in the world will not help if the
desire is not there.
I have some questions of my own to ask.
1. Where can I get a copy of these studies to review for myself?
2. How many people that have taken the evaluation were not recommended for
treatment including, individuals that are in the same position as I am.
3. Has there been any individuals to take the evaluation that does not
have a drug and or alcohol problem? How many? What was the outcome?
4. Have there been case studies where the evaluations has been given to
both types of individuals? How big was the case study? What was the
outcome?
I am questioning the validity of the evaluation and the intent of the
person or person's that generated the questions. I intend to prove that no
matter how the questions are answered and by whom, that treatment will
always be recommended. Rather it be poor ethics, or that the questions on
the evaluation be worded in such a way as to suggest that each person
taking the evaluation will be recommended for counseling.

Coffee

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor.
Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kithchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups, porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite- telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said:"If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. What all of you really wanted was a cup of coffee, not the cup, but you consiously went for the best cups and were eyeing each other's cups.
Now if life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't shange. Some times, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it.
Don't let the cups drive you... Enjoy the coffee instead.

Everybody thinks that everbody knows
About everybody else but nobody knows
anything about themselves
because they're all worried about everybody else

I started my new job Monday Jan. 9th.. I am very happy to be working again. But, there are a few things that I would like to change as far as field procedure goes, most of you wouldn't know what the hell I was talking about though. I have some pretty good benifits there too. My medical is paid, I pay 50% of my dental, we have a 401k that I can enroll in during the next quarter, 8 paid holidays and 2 weeks of vacation time. The only bad thing is that we get paid bi-monthly and I won't get my first check until Feb.1, yes Feb.1. That is a long time to go without money, but I will manage.

![]() I am elegant, withdrawn, and brilliant. My mind is a weapon, able to solve any puzzle. I am also great at poking holes in arguments and common beliefs. For me, comfort and calm are very important. I tend to thrive on your own and shrug off most affection. I prefer to protect your emotions and stay strong. |
My life as we know it
Saturday, December 3, 2005 6:16:41 PM
I know I am going through a tough time, but damn give a man break. I am back at home with my parents I know I need a job and I know I need a DL shit people I am trying. Being in this situation is realy embarassing for me, but I am going to lay it all out and tell you everything about me anyway. I am on parole for VGCSA. I don't have a DL because I had 3 DUI's in 5yrs but that was 7 yrs. Now that I am eligible to get them back I am having troubles. The work I do (Land Surveying) requires me to have a DL but without it no one wants to hire me and that realy sucks. So now I am stuck at home with no DL,no job, no money, no car and no life.
