The April 13th Incident, which is also called "bottle" incident, has been the ever worst-influenced accident in my life. It's not only a sadness worth my whole life to remember, but also a scar forever bleeding.
Background:
In April,2004,under the pressure of tutors' protest against students' drinking water in class, Cadet Brigade Administration delievered an announcement that no student was allowed to take water bottles to classroom and the comprehensive ban was to be effective immediately.
Incident course:
On April 13th,When lunch was finished, I bought 2 bottles of beverage, one for me, the other for the other classmate together dinning with me. But she forgot taking it, so the bottle remained in my bag. In the routine inspection of water bottles on my way to class, the evil remaining bottle was checked out and I was demanded immediate explanation. I refused. Then, the so called "Bottle Inspection Staff" canceled my afternoon class.
Result:
30 page self-inspection papers was ordered, which took my whole afternoon to finish it, worse still, this was not the end, squadron commander said discipline punish is under consideration. I strongly protested for it's absolutely against the Internal Routine Principles of P.L.A. But due to the bad interrelations since he came to the office, my request was turned down.
I turned to the Department of Politics for help. I explained the whole matter in detail to the personnel in chief, and acknowledged the fault I made by careless. To stop the conflict updated, I called the lieutenant general Dr.Liu in advance seeking his support. I also prepared fully detailed material for P.L.A Daily, asking them for further investigation and media report on Squadron commanders' abuse of P.L.A Internal Routine Principles in FMMU.
2 days later, I got the phone call from the Department, they told me no hurry admitting the fault, as there are many wrong deeds in processing the whole things, they said the punish decision to be made by the commander was ILLEGAL and IT WAS HIM WHO SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR HIS WRONG DEEDS SUCH AS corporal punishment, etc.
A week later, official announcement came that all students are ALLOWED again to take bottles to classrooms.
I was totally surprised, besides, this is really a farce.
