VALUES OF INDIA

Indian people have similar values with ours.We mentioned about some of these examples below.

Meeting Etiquette:This is a hierarchical culture,so greet the eldest or most senior person first. When a leaving group, each person must be bid farewell indivudially.Shaking hands is common .Men may shake hands with other man and women may shake hands with other women; however there are seldom hand shakes between men and women because of religious beliefs.
Naming Conventions:In the North many people have both a given name and a surname, but it is surprising that in the South of India surnames are less common and a person generally uses the initial of their father’s name in front of their own name.At marriage, Women drop their father’s name and use their first name with husband’s first name as a sort of surname. It is different from our values in that in our marriages woman use her husband’s surname.
Dining Etiquette: Indian’s take off their shoes before entering the house. They dress modestly and conservatively like in Turkey.
There are some restrictions in eating in India for example:
Hindus do not eat beef. Many are vegetarians.Muslims in India do not eat pork or drink alcohol.Muslims in Turkey do not eat pork too, but they drink alcohol.Indian people always eat with right hand.Leaving a small amount of food your plate indicates that you are satisfied. Finishing all your food means you are still hungry. However in Turkey ıf someone leaves even a little amount of food in his plate it is evaluated as rudeness.
