Enjoy,
After installation:
-
First use the drop down menu to set the button size then close the button resizer.
-
Drag the toolbar to the desired location (I keep it at the top of my monitor)
-
Flip the widget and delete the services you don't plan to use.
To create your own custom buttons:
-
Flip the widget to the config side.
-
Chose the custom tab
-
Add button code
The code should be in this format:
- button name@search url part 1@search url part 2@normal href@image url##
Example:
- my opera@http://my.opera.com/community/forums/search.dml?term=@@http://my.opera.com@http://www.opera.com/favicon.ico##
Don't use line breaks or space, each button ends with ##
Here are some more examples:
- wikipedia@http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=@&go=Go@http://en.wikipedia.org/@http://en.wikipedia.org/favicon.ico##yahoo@http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=UTF-8&fr=sfp&p=@@http://www.yahoo.com/@http://www.yahoo.com/favicon.ico##ask.com@http://www.ask.com/web?q=@&qsrc=0&o=312&l=dir@http://www.ask.com/@http://about.ask.com/sh/i/s/media_logos/ask_xsml.gif##widget search@http://widgets.opera.com/search/?search=@&scope=all&x=0&y=0@http://widgets.opera.com/@images/widgets.jpg##
You can paste that into the box and click [save config] to see what it looks like.
Step by step:
-
Chose a search engine you want to add
-
Type some text in the box and search
-
Copy the search page URL
-
Open a text editor
-
Paste the URL into the text editor
-
Type the name you want to use for this search
-
Put @ behind the name
-
Now put the URL from the search page behind it
-
Replace the test word you typed with @
-
Put another @ behind the search URL, if the URL ended with your search word there should be 2 times @ at the end.
-
Put the website front page URL after that
-
Again put @ behind it
-
Now put the image URL you want to use behind that.
-
End the code with ##
-
Copy the code to the clipboard (be careful not to copy any line breaks)
-
Go to the widget
-
flip the widget using the small button at the left bottom
-
Mouse over the [custom] tab
-
paste the code into the box
-
press [safe config]
-
flip the widget back
-
Your button should be there now
If you have problems, just ask.
Lets have an example:
-
Say, I want to add http://www.cuil.com
-
I type some text in the box "blablabla" and search
-
I Copy the URL http://www.cuil.com/search?q=blablabla
-
I open Textpad
-
I paste the URL into the text editor
-
I type: Cuil
-
I put @ behind the name Cuil@
-
I put the URL behind it: Cuil@http://www.cuil.com/search?q=blablabla
-
replace the test word with @: Cuil@http://www.cuil.com/search?q=@
-
add another @ behind it: Cuil@http://www.cuil.com/search?q=@@
-
put the website front page URL after it: Cuil@http://www.cuil.com/search?q=@@http://www.cuil.com
-
again put @ behind it: Cuil@http://www.cuil.com/search?q=@@http://www.cuil.com@
-
now the image URL. Most websites have a favicon.ico file http://www.cuil.com/favicon.ico jep, it's there, so we get: Cuil@http://www.cuil.com/search?q=@@http://www.cuil.com@http://www.cuil.com/favicon.ico
-
end the code with ##: Cuil@http://www.cuil.com/search?q=@@http://www.cuil.com@http://www.cuil.com/favicon.ico##
-
I copy the code to the clipboard.
-
go to the widget
-
flip the widget using the small button at the left bottom
-
mouse over the [custom] tab
-
paste the code into the box: Cuil@http://www.cuil.com/search?q=@@http://www.cuil.com@http://www.cuil.com/favicon.ico##
-
press [safe config]
-
flip the widget back
-
My button is there, o joy it also works!
You are now a toolback hacker.
If you have a good idea feel free to tell me and I will get right to it.
Enjoy,

Is it possible to add the Google log in button?
gabydewilde # 30. July 2009, 18:59
I don't want anything that appears dubious on the widget.
Hope you understand.
Thanks for the feedback

It would be great to have a Google Bookmark icon in the bar. I have manually added it for now.

It doesn't work on Opera 10.00

If I strip the widget from it's code it obviously works. But if I change the code (trying to fix it) it doesn't show up.
Then it gets weird.
After that the stripped widget also doesn't show up.
So there has to be something wrong in the html, config file or the zip archive (the stripped widget) AND there has to be something wrong with the script running in it.
I should first fix the version without script but that requires loading the broken widget, before I can simulate the bug, deleting it and restarting opera every time I try to change something.
I'm not even sure where the bug comes from.
I have an Opera preview on my pc that I've upgraded and there the widget continues to work. However, downloading it a second time gives me an invisible widget again.
So I'm a bit confused about the whole thing.
Specially since other widgets all seem to work fine.
But I will work at it if you insist.
Thanks for the report,
