Kostenloses Essen

, , , ...

Für nichts gibt's nichts

FALSCH!

Herr A: Hi Kim!

Carrot Cake

, , , ...

I really like carrot cakes, but the only time I ever eat them is when I go to my dad's garden club. Old woman know how to bake cakes! Then I saw Kristen's post on carrot cakes which prompted me to bake one :D

What you need:
2 cups grated carrot (you can probably use more)
1 cup self raising flour
1 cup brown sugar
0.5 cup plain flour
1 cup oil (I used peanut-so if you're allergic find something else)
0.5 cup sultanas
0.5 cup chopped walnuts
3 eggs ,lightly beaten
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

What to do:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C.
  • Grease a round cake tin (mine was around 20 cm diameter) and line the bottom with paper.
  • In a bowl combine the: carrot, flour, sugar, oil, sultanas, walnuts, eggs and cinnamon.
  • Place the mix into the tin an bake for 50-55 minutes.

This is the best cake ever! Grating the carrots provides you with some exercise, walnuts contain essential oils, carrots contain beta carotene... And it's soooo easy to make

Carrot cake and hot water =

:bomb: Grrr Please forgive the bad quality of my photos. I'm going to blame it on MyOpera :D

Before Sunset

, , , ...

I watched 'Before Sunset', one of my favourite films this week. Not once, but twice  And in German too! And I understood 90% of it  It's a continuation of 'Before Sunrise' which is set 9 years earlier (and also made 9 years earlier) They star Julie Delpy (did you know she played Leni in Europa Europa? I didn't) and Ethan Hawke

I don't think I need to explain what happens in the films because you're all clever enough to google them yourselves or even click on the links above  Or you can watch the trailer which explains it:

Both of these films are really nice to watch. They're set in real time around Vienna and Paris. There are no costume changes, no fancy effects...just the two characters interacting and talking about their lives. And that's all you need in these two films.

If you dont' appreciate films (ie you really really love Eddie Murphy movies (they should ban then for under 18s! No wonder today's youth are so off the tracks)) you probably wont like these movies as a lot of thought went into making them... If you are a bogan, you probably wont like these movies either.

For those interested, the song in the trailer is 'Edge of the Ocean' (not the original video) by Ivy
New words: Narbe= scar, muffig=musty

:frown: I just killed an ant by mistake....

'Cure' for sore throat, flaxseed oil, cellulite and cake

, , , ...

Tuesday night I had a sore throat...Last night it got worse.

My sister told me that last time she had a sore throat she ate a mandarin before going to bed and it was better!

So, last night I ate a mandarin before going to bed and guess what?!

It was better in the morning! Only a tiny bit sore :D I ate one just now and I'll let you know if my sore throat goes away completely

--------

My mum got me some flax seed oil today  I read health magazines and health articles quite a lot because I find them interesting. These articles are often saying flax seed oil is good for you.

What is it flax seed oil? Linseed oil

What are the benefits of it?
Increases energy levels and stamina
Increases metabolic rate -> easier to burn fat
Improves absorption of calcium (then I should probably consume some calcium for this to happen...)
Can improve function of liver
Can stop development of forms of cancer
And other stuff

It's full of 'essential fatty acids' which your body cannot produce. So, you have to consume these through your diet.

Flax seed oil is unique as it contains both essential fatty acids, alpha-linolenic (an Omega-3 fatty acid) and linoleic acid (an Omega-6 Fatty acid) in generous amounts. Flax seed oil is one of the richest sources of Omega-3 EFA’s. It has 57% more Omega-3 fatty acids than fish oils.
(See here)

--------

Today I was flicking through channels and apparantly avocado, pineapple and asparagus are good for increasing blood flow -> help fight against cellulite (if you read my blog you'll probably know that I'm paranoid about getting cellulite).

--------

But, after all of this 'health' talk...I still love cake! But, I love raw cake mix even more

Lunch and recent purchases

, , , ...

Welcome back to my blog (there should be a waving smiley)

It's my grandma's birthday on Tuesday so we took her out to lunch today. She said she wanted to go to 'Dundees Hotel/Dundees Crocodile and Wildlife Park'. *sigh* Yes, I actually sighed when I found out we were going there.

After 4.75 hours sleep, I travelled for 1.5 hours with my family to get to an 'all you can eat' restaurant, randomly placed on the side of a freeway... :left:

$18 buys you 'all you can eat'...not that anyone would ever eat $18 worth of food.

Left to right:
Sister- Lots of carbs, some dead animal (iron and protein) and some veggies under there somewhere
Dad- Err weren't you looking up ways to lower cholesterol on the net last night? Well, ok you've got some protein there and some greens...but I don't know what the brown stuff is
Mum- You like potato, hey? Didn't we get 5kg of potatoes for $2 on Thursday? And you paid $18 for this...?
Grandma- sat too far away so didn't get a pic

My mum also ate some prawns. Nothing more classy than ripping out the intestinal tract of a dead sea creature at the dinner table :eyes:

HOT WATER :D My meal...$0...best price EVER

I took a photo of this because it looks pretty  Do you prefer rouns sprinkles or the straight sprinkles?

Then we went home :D I like looking out of the window at the country side which looked like this and this in spots.

This is in a village named Callington. I like clouds.

In other news...

My mum bought 3kg of oranges!!! :hat: Oranges make me happy. So does porridge. Porridges with oranges in it makes me super happy.

I baked a lemon and poppy seed cake last week. It was definately NOT the best cake I have ever made, probably because I kind of 'invented' the recipe and didn't put enough eggs in. I still ate it though

Puma shoes are really good in my opinion. Why? I've been wearing the same pair for 5.5 years and they have only started to 'die' recently. I refuse to pay over $50 for shoes, considering shoes priced at $100 are NOT worth $100 (I do learn stuff at uni that I can apply to real life woah! :yikes: )

I found some Converse shoes in a brochure for $50. When I got to one store the woman said
'Oh it's only the blue ones that are $50. The gold are $80'
Me- So a different colour is $30?!
Woman- Yes...
Me- You can keep the shoes then p:

Then I went to another store (the same store but a different location) and took the gold shoes to the check-out. They wanted to charge me $80 for them too! However, I used my knoweldge of small print and generally annoyed the staff and got them for $50

I also bought a warm polar fleece jumper recently. It's from Paddy Pallin, an outdoor shop where the staff are soooo much more friendly and helpful than the staff in the store I got my shoes from. I asked the guy for a student discount and got one

With my new jumper, I can ride a bike, go hiking and mountain climbing. Wow, a whole world of opportunities awaits me and my jumper
