Fruit Salad and Mixed Veg

... blogging the suburbs since 2005...

One Weeek!!!

One week until I leave Adelaide!!! It's 3 degrees in Germany at the moment! :eyes: I was complaining when it was 15 degrees here last week.

I have lots of stuff to do: do exam, get passport photos, get bank statement stuff, buy presents for people, go to dentist, write to my uni, go to my farewell party, attend to a houseparty, attend to my sister's birthday party, buy jeans, buy battery charger, buy memory card reader, get a student card, print stuff, clean room, pack bag ...and more!

I had my last exam yesterday  I'd prefer not to discuss it as if I did, I'd require counselling :frown:

Ugh the Australian dollar only buys 49 Euro cents! I should have bought Euros in October...I guess I hsould buy them now before the Australian dollar loses MORE value. All students going on exchange to Europe were hoping the Euro would go down in value. Well, it did...but the Australian dollar went down even more in value. So, I have lost more than 1000 Euro!!!! :irked:

Fridge
Does anyone remember the photo of my fridge that I put on here? It was covered with paper and magnets and more paper and about 3 calendars!

I got back from work last Sunday morning....walked into the kitchen and thought I was in another house. Someone had cleaned the fridge!!

For my parents, cleaning the fridge on a Saturday night is great fun!

Light
In Australia, if you have children, the government will give you a 'family contribution' (or something). It's a payment so that you can look after your kids. In previous years, the government gave my family a $130 payment! WOAH! Big money :left: Unfortunately, we're now classified as 'too rich' to get this payment.

We calculated, that as a result of our economic standing we'd be able to get some things fixed. We got an original 1967 toilet fitting changed! On Saturday morning we got a new kitchen light fitting!

The original was from the 80s, broken and hanging off the ceiling...

The 'changing of the light fitting' was such a monumental event on our family's 2008 calendar that we took a photo of the electrician! p:

You think they have curly butter in Germany?

schmienz 25. November 2008, 05:44

Now i understand my dream!

galadriel 25. November 2008, 05:56

San- I sure hope so  I shall go on a curly butter hunt. First I need to work out how to say 'curly butter' in German....

Schmienz- What was it about?

GrantTLC 25. November 2008, 07:13

Darned pesky Euros. I have to get some too, but at least you get more- it's around 1.14 Euros to every pound right now, although it used to be up at 1.5. Guess I won't be complaining too hard...

Congrats on the new light fitting - my family used to have those old spotlights, too!

kirstycat 25. November 2008, 07:48

wow, one week! I hope you've got space for lots of warm woolly jumpers in that suitcase!

You'll get to see all the German xmas markets in actual Germany too! Wow! I'm so jealous  My German friend at work was telling me about how amazing and lovely they are.

I thought you set off on Wednesday next week, when I am travelling also?

schmienz 25. November 2008, 09:55

My dream: You came to me, to my house. And it was a suprise. And i was a little :eyes:

galadriel 25. November 2008, 12:25

Grant- Yeah don't complain! Thanks. I still can't get over it. It's a life changing event. Did your family ever get them replaced?

kirsty- errr...then I would need to buy warm woolly jumpers. I have some jumpers...and I hope they are warm enough. If not, I will resort to wearing thermals. VERY high waisted thermals :yuck: hehe I'm excited about going to the markets  Well, I fly on Tuesday but I will still be in the plane on Wednesday.

schmienz- haha! Was I freaky in your dream?

schmienz 25. November 2008, 16:21

Ahm. It was freaky, cause youre skin was black. (Is that right?) But you promised, you are Kim. ... :left:

By the way: Its -2 degress today.

kirstycat 25. November 2008, 16:41

ah of course! I forget that it takes two days to get over here

galadriel 26. November 2008, 11:41

schmienz- Nope, I'm caucasian. Ahhh during the day?! It was a nice war, 30 degrees today and I sat outside in the sun drinking a fruit smoothie P:

kirsty-
