Bored at the bus stop

, , , ...

Yesterday while waiting for the bus, some photos were taken. I like the squiggly bits

On Monday a sketch was sketched. I've always wanted to make a crown from flowers...but I don't think there are any suitable flowers here :frown:

Today, my cousin and I had a competition..."Who can draw the most child-like picture? Which one do you think is the winner? Children's pictures always contain: grass, sky, a sun, some birds (which look like Ms), some stick people and a house with really high windows. We both put 'stink lines' around the boys  p:

Postcards and sugar

, , , ...

I’ve got some more postcards for my door  Most of them are from Germany, but I have one from England, China, Hong Kong, France, Portugal and…Australia! Now it looks like this:

Last night I went to a Dj competition/dance-off at Sugar. The competition would decide which DJ would play a set at the Fringe Festival(1) Opening Night/Party. Sugar is a cool little nightclub above an Italian restaurant in Rundle Street, where the ‘beautiful people’ hang out. The percentage of ‘conventionally ugly people’ there is VERY low with not a single bogan or piece of trailer trash in sight. When you walk in you have to walk up lots of little stairs…the trouble is, the stars are very small, so you have to walk on your toes. Inside, there are lots of paintings on the wall, cool wallpaper(2), pool tables, interesting looking lights, a dance floor and some comfy chairs. The staff are friendly and smile a lot. While watching the dance-off, I spotted an elderly man in the corner taking photos (perhaps he is the resident photographer or something) He must be the coolest person over 60 ever! Most 60+ people I know hate loud music, night clubs, the youth of today and think that the internet is PURE EVIL!

(1) The Fringe Festival starts on Feb 22 and is when Adelaide comes alive after sleeping for too long! It's the second biggest Fringe after the Edinburgh Fringe and it's the biggest arts festival in the southern hemisphere.
(2) Although, the wallpaper at my house is WAY cooler P:

No computer for you

, , , ...

Wow, my cousin is banned from the computer until 13th January. At least it's not 13th January 2009!

I drew an eye, an eyebrow, a bit of a nose and a bit of a mouth the other day  On Tuesday I went to a sketch group. I liked it so much that I'm going back next week  The people there can really draw!!!

It was 41 degrees Celcius today so we drove to my cousin's house becasue it's cooler in the hills...The airconditioner works TOO well; I had to wear a jacket inside! :eyes: At the moment, it's 29.1 outside...and it's 22.41

I'm trying to think of an idea for the Opera Fan Art competition...I don't have red paint and I don't know where I can get some cows from...p:

2008-Post#1

, , , ...

Ok, guess I have to put the generic ‘Happy New Year’ up here. So: Happy New Year everyone!

Ok, so following the format of 2007-Post#1, I'll tell you about my NYE.

I’m not sure if this year’s celebrations were better than last year’s…

It was a toasty 40C. Great weather for catching public transport! I used three methods of transport (car, bus, tram) to get me to the beach for a party. There were only 5 people there for the first 1.75 hours… We sat on the porch, playing with water guns while waiting for everyone else to arrive. I didn’t take any food for the BBQ with me, but I was able to swap a bottle of wine, and 2 Smirnoffs for some  Just as I had to leave for work, the rest of the guests arrived :| The house was really great; the supermarket is across the road and the beach is a 5 minute walk away. The owners will be looking for new housemates soon as some of the current housemates are going back overseas. If you want a place in Adelaide for a while, let me know.

I was thinking it would have been really busy at work, but it was the opposite. One guy commented that I look too young to work in a bar. Apparently I look like his 15yr old sister…. Down the other end of the bar, a group of people were placing bets on how old I was. They were guessing 18 and 2 months; incorrect. My future is looking botox free! :D

Someone gave me a tip of $4.90! I was quite happy :D

There were so many more freaks out and about than there usually are at 5am. I didn't want to walk to the bus stop by myself as I usually do...then I see some boy (he must have been 11 or 12!) running around ALONE!

Lecker!

Hopefully by this time next year, I will either BE in Germany or about to go to Germany on exchange :D :hat: :drunk: flirt  If I am not...lets just say it wont be pretty.

Fun for all the family

, , , ...

Today I practiced reverse parallel parking becasue I have a driving test tomorrow. I had a bit of an audience (after all, how can watching me park NOT be fun for the whole family?!): two boys wondering what on earth I was doing with 3 broomsticks, their mum (or grandma) and my auntie and uncle. I did a good job and even got a clap  I thought I was going to look like the stupid one....but no, my auntie and uncle achieved that by getting some chairs and sitting on the front lawn to watch.

My auntie and uncle were lucky enough to score these front row seats and dined as they watched :left:

Now for some random photos of stuff:

These were on the clothes line the other morning

Not sure what to get a friend for Christmas? How about some 'fat rolls'?

This year's big sandcastle in the mall. It took 6 days to build. You may remember last year's .

Three hours in Murray Bridge

, , , ...

My dad and I drove to Murray Bridge on Thursday, with me behind the wheel and my dad talking on the phone, trying to instruct me at the same time...

As I didn't want to hang around some office for 3 hours, I decided I would walk around. However, that meant I had to park the car first... I parked too close to the white car and nearly hit it...I managed to get out of the car, but when it was time for my dad to get behind the wheel...he couldn't get in! He went back to the passener side and climbed over the gear bit to get behind the wheel

There are lots of little, uninteresting shops in Murray Bridge. There's one called Neds which is a craft/gift shop which was filled with Christmas junk. Yes, I call it junk becasue once Christmas has finished it all goes into the bin...well it does here anyway. The main street has lots of bins and chairs. Why so many chairs? Well, after 10 minutes you would have seen everything this town has to offer, so you need somewhere to sit until it's time to go home.

The main shopping centre has a very unfriendly atmosphere, the stairs are marked from people's shoes and there's a Steve Irwin cardboard cut out near the door. In the shopping centre, there is a bookshop. The bookshop was probably the most interesting thing in the town-they should put it in a tourist brochure. Why buy books when you can read them in the store? According to Lonely Planet, there's a spice shop in Hamburg that's really good and there's a book about emos too.

Usually, parks are quiet, relaxing places. In Murray Bridge there are two parks near the mainstreet, both of which are near a noisy intersection. They're not the palce for picnics or BBQs and this is proved by the fact that there IS NO BBQ!

You'd be glad to know Murray Bridge has electricty. Does the author of this blog have any proof? Well, yes, this voltage box...or perhaps it's a pretend voltage box.. It's a strange shade of brown and you can stand on it if you want to see stuff...though there's not much to see.

The community art gallery is not the place for lovers of art. If you like looking at ametuer sketches, then visit the gallery, if not don't go there! If you like bargains, there's a Salvation Army store in the town. There you can buy a 1970s red velvet couch, ancient National Geographic magazines and dusty glass bowls.

You can really tell that no architectual thought went into the designing/landscaping of the road in/out of Murray Bridge. The McDonalds is positioned too far from the main street.

This is the view from a high bit of the free-way. Everything is dying so if you like the colours wheaty-yellow and brown, you should build a Summer house along the free-way

If you're driving to a cemetery in the country, there's no need to buy flowers. You can just pick some from the side of the road and prove your Aussie-scabiness.

This is the 'real' Australia that you wont see in travel books.

Keeping Australia safe

, , ,

I was at the airport yesterday morning as my sister was going to Germany (and I was not* :irked:)

We were standing near a cafe and someone had left a bag under one of the chairs. Here's what happened:

1. Waitress tells official looking airport staff (2 guys) about the unattended bag.
2. Airport staff look under the chair and confirm the bag's existance.
3. Airport staff step about 5 metres away from the bag and cross their arms
4. 5-10 minutes later, airport staff are still standing with their arms crossed.
5. I take a photo of them P:
6. About 15 minutes since the bag was noticed, some security officers turn up.
7. Security officers look under the chair and confirm that the bag exists.
8. After about 3 minutes, security build up the courage to take the bag away.

In conclusion, it took about 15-20 minutes for the bag to get taken away. But, hey, as long as you've got 2 guys standing there with their arms crossed nothing can go wrong!

I've been trying to draw a picture every day, to improve my drawing skills. So here is Wednesday's drawing

*If you're a parent, make your children get jobs as soon as possible. This means they will have enough money to do what they want when they are an 'adult'.
