Australia Day Party

, , , ...

Last night, an Aussie girl attended her fist Australian Day Beach Party! It was on the side of the good ol' Rhein, really cold, a bit muddy....It was her first BEACH party....ever.

The party was hosted by Luke, an enthusiastic Australian, who decorated the beach with candles inside of paper bags. Luke also organised a fire: burning wood and furniture on the side of the road, from a kitchen renovation. One guy from Victoria even baked some ANZAC biscuits  There was Frisbee and beach cricket too.

Last night I had a farewell party in a park in the city. I wasn't going to have a farewell, but I thought I should to prove that I can organise soemthing and that I'm not lazy

We packed an esky; it has wheels!!!

The weather didn't look too good as we drove there, but then the sun started shining and luckily, it didn't rain at the party

My sister knows how to cut up mangoes, so she did a demonstration

There you go

The wheeled esky also doubles up as a seat

Yay I'm not the only one with an old phone!

That's all for now

Fires in bins, gorillas in cars..but wait there's more!

, , , ...

My computer isn't working!! :frown: I think it (a)might be dead from the heat (b)might have a virus or (c)Windows is just a piece of junk. It will start up, go to the Windows XP bit, and the blue line will keep going across...and that's all that happens... :right:

Anyway,....

Last Friday I was in Rymill Park for a BBQ. We were on one side of the pond (there is no water in it anymore) when we noticed something across the other side; a fire!

Uh Oh! We were good people and rang 000.

To put out a fire in a bin you need: 4 firemen, a big truck, lights, water.... Oh and lots of people taking photos of it

Walking down Rundle Street last week, I spotted this car at the traffic lights. There are gorillas in the back!! :D

My mum likes to buy stuff we don't need. I've probably told you that before... On the weekend, she decided to buy 'custard apples'. I eat more fruit than anyone in my family. However, I was the only one who didn't like the custard apples. They DON'T taste like custard!

Have you seen this site? It calculates how much your blog is worth....apparently....

Back to uni....

, , , ...

Friday was officially the last day of the uni holidays :frown: At first, staying at home everyday was really boring, but I’ve gotten used to it now! I’m not quite sure what I have achieved since November…if anything. Well, I managed to get 2 jobs. The job at the uni was the GREATEST! I met so many people and made lots of new friends because of it *smile*

As you all know, I like to complain. I complained about a pull top lid on a carton of custard and received a $10 voucher. With this voucher, I bought stuff to take to a BBQ; cake mix (to make a cake…duh), some kangaroo meat (to eat at the BBQ) and a can opener (a gift for the housemates). The guys really appreciated the can opener, not only because they now had access to canned spaghetti, but because it doubles up as a bottle opener! No more broken teeth!!

The guests were welcomed with a shot of FISU, a Finnish vodka drink: 1.25L of vodka, mixed with 7 packets of Fisherman’s friend. It’s good!

The housemates bought the BBQ for $30. It’s pretty good for $30! However, it took soo long to get it going! The first lot of meat cooked on it turned out a bit black…

The time consuming, $30 BBQ. And Mr C...couldn't find a piece of bread so used a paper plate instead!

Mmm kangaroo steak!!! :D
Miss J from France was telling some of us about how she is engaged. She said her fiancée back in France doesn’t have to worry about her because ‘all Aussie guys are ugly’. I agree with this! So did the rest of the girls there; Australian and non-Australian.

I had to leave the 'partay' early to go to work *sad* I was having fuunnnnn! Work wasn’t that great because I have a cold...and when you have a cold, you can’t speak very loud…and you get an itchy throat and want to cough a lot...

IN OTHER NEWS:
I got a new dress. Actually, my first, as I don't own any- I borrow them from my sister.

Happiest day of my life!

Wow, I learnt how to make BW/coloured pictures in Photoshop!!

Really yummie spicy chicken

, , ,

This spicy BBQ chicken is sooooo nice!!

My sister's allergic to chicken. But now that she's in Germany I can cook it as much as I want

INGREDIENTS:

1kg chicken thigh fillets
1/2 cup coconut milk

Paste
4 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon of cracked black peppercorns (smash whole ones with a spoon)
2 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoon tumeric
2 teaspoon paprika (sweet or hot, or both)
1 tablespoon fresh coriander root (it tastes fine without it)
1 teaspoon curry powder
2 fresh red chilli (if you don't want to drive to the shop to buy 1 chilli, don't use one  )
1 tablespoon peanut oil

Sweet Vinegar Sauce:
1 fresh red chilli
2 cloves garlic
1/2 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar

Ok, so what do I do?
Cut up the chicken thighs in half, or if you want it too cook quicker, cut them up into smaller pieces.

Mix up all the paste ingredients in a bowl and mix it in with the chicken. Put it in the fridge for a few hours.

After a few hours, grill or BBQ the chicken and baste it with coconut milk.

At the same time you can make the sauce: Grind the chilli and garlic to a paste. Combine the vinegar and sugar in a pan and stir it over heat, until the sugar dissolves. Bring it to the boil and simmer it uncovered, without stirring, until the syrup begins to colour. Remove it from the heat and stir in the chili and garlic. Then pour it over the cooked chicken. Or, if you're lazy, just use already made sweet chilli sauce
