Why bother?

, , , ...

I was raised listening to 'old people's radio' ie, music from the 60s and 70s. What amazes me is that this music has lasted and still sounds good. I doubt anyone will be listening to Emiliana Torrini's 'Jungle Drum' (currently #1 in Germany) in 40+ years.

Listening to the radio at work on Friday, I recognised a song on the radio....I quickly realised it was a really bad cover of a good song.

Good: The Kinks, Waterloo Sunset

Bad: Def Leppard (whoever they are!), and their why-did-they-bother version of Waterloo Sunset At 1:00 minutes it gets really bad!

Hmmm I was just looking at the other songs in the German charts....
Das geht ab by Frauenarzt and Manny Marc is number 9. I had never heard the song up until 1 minute ago...and I didn't need to hear it. Why would you call your 'band/group/whatever' Frauenarzt? Or, in English, gynecologist :| The song is about these losers going to parties and partying the whole night long....I find it hard to believe they get invited to parties, going by how they dress. I would be embarassed to be seen with someone who dresses so badly.

8.45am in the computer room

, , , ...

I was in the uni computer room this morning at the early hour of 8.45am. There was one other individual on the other side of the room...far far away (60+ computers in this room).

Anyway, one guy walked behind me...then came back and SAT NEXT TO ME!...WHAT? Why would you sit next to me when there are 58 other spare computers?! The computer he sat down at was also OFF :eyes: There were others that were already on.

He sat down and looked at me...then started sipping his coffee really loudly...looked at me some more...I sat trying to ignore him. Then he started playing loud dance music...and looking for my reaction. Then he started laughing....and singing to the really loud dance music...and looking at me more. Then he started looking at what I was typing. International business strategies are not that interesting...or are they?

I was ready to hit this guy in the face. He was sooooo annoying! After 1 HOUR, I packed up my stuff to go to a meeting. Then he started at me and I started at him and gave him a look which said 'What is your problem?!'

At the bus stop (yep, freaks always hang out at the bus stop) I was standing in the sun (yep, I'm a reptile  ) and a bogan guy stood next to me...There's lots of other places to stand you know! Then he asked me 'Is this Tea Tree Plaza?' I replied with 'Yes'. How can you not know if you are at Tea Tree Plaza or not?! It's the second biggest shopping complex in the STATE! If I wasn't such a poor student, I would have bought this bogan some breath mints because I nearly died from the smell seeping from his mouth. I wonder if my medical insurance covers 'Death by bogany bad breath?'

Did you know 50% of Aussies don't get enough fibre?
Nope?
Neither did I.
Now you've learnt 2 things

But we really need a big house!

40.3°C/104.5 F outside so I shall blog. Safer than going outside and getting skin cancer!

I don't know if you've heard about it, but the interest rates here in Australia are at a high, therefore many people are having trouble paying off their loans. I found a big article titled 'One family's battle to keep their home' in the Sunday Mail yesterday (9 March p 8, 9) and I feel like writing about it....

The family has a $270,000 loan and they are finding it hard to pay off because the repayments have gone up by $360 per month to $2156 per month.

The whole double spread is just the family complaining about how hard their life is....and there's a picture of them looking sad too.

Their lifestyle used to be: Take away 2 times a week, restaurant once a week, movies once a week and their daughter used to have singing lessons each week. Now, they don't have enough money for any of this, not even the sining lessons for their daughter!

The commerce student in me calculated what they used to spend in a year:
Takeaway, $7 each= $1456 per year
Restaurant, $20 each= $2080 per year
Movies, $10 each= $1040 per year
TOTAL= $4576 per year!!!

That is a lot!! And here they are complaining that they don't have enough money for their daughter's singing lessons! If they previously went without all of this stuff for a year, they could have paid for 5.72 years worth of singing lessons! How selfish are these parents?! My parents went without stuff so I could have music lessons, books, an exchange to Germany and other stuff. Yet this couple 'needs' a mega expensive house and then complains they can't afford anything :left:

So what is the moral of the story?
Don't buy stuff you don't need! :furious: And save your money!!

The weirdest thing is, the guy is an account manager...and he is having money problems. So, this blog post has another moral; don't get this guy to do your accounts!
