The Birthday

, , , ...

On Sunday I lost my teenager-hood. I also lost my voice. I don't know if it was from smoke or talking to loud...but my voice decided to go on holiday. It arrived back yesterday :smile: But now I'm a bit sick :frown:

Anyway, the birthday....I didn't have a party. I couldn't be bothered organising a party. So, as usual we went for lunch at my grandma's house.

After lunch, I asked my dad if he wanted to go for a walk up a hill. He said no, because it makes him too tired. So, I went by myself. It took me only 12 minutes to get to the top; no pauses! It used to take me mroe than 30 minutes!

Then, my sister and her 'friend' went for another walk with me in the evening. They must have felt sorry for me. I think my hobby is walking up hills. My dad thinks I should go in a walking competition :left:

View from half way up the hill

We took walkie talkies with us. We discovered that you can hear other people and talk to other people. We talked to a guy named Troy.

Then we went to McDonalds because I wanted to have an icecream. And because I can afford to eat icecream at McDonalds; $0.50/icecream :wink:

No, we didn't buy one for the Hoff. Yes, we were too lazy to get out of the car, so we got drive-through

Eating the icecream in the car, in the car park. Is that bogan? :left:

Then we went home and I did my assignment....and my auntie and uncle visited me.

But today was better than my birthday! Because, I got some mail from Germany, from my favourite German :D No one else got me such a nice present.... This parcel was a very special for Intersheep....because....

Intersheep's SISTER was inside!

Now I have three sheep in my flock :smile: I must have shown signs of being a good shepherd, and so that's why I have another sheep :wink:

This little sheep was very hungry and the first thing she did was run to the fridge...

Then she grabbed a spoon and ate lots of icecream. Next time, I'll just buy chocolate...

Today's German Lesson:
In today's lesson, we will learn some ingredients commonly used in 'Du bist ein Engel' German chocolate bars:

Vollmilch-Schokolade = full milk chocolate = milk chocolate
Zutaten = ingredients
Zucker = sugar
Kakaobutter = cocoa butter
Vollmilchpulver= full milk powder
Kakaomasse = cocoa mass
Suessmolkenpulver= I have no idea about what the English is. Sweet whey powder?
Milchzucker= lactose...milk sugar
Emulgator = emulsifying agent
Aroma: natuerliche Vanille= flavour: natural vanilla

Kann Spuren von Nuessen und Erdnuesen enthalten
= May contain traces of nuts and peanuts.
(German people, please explain Erdnuessen and Nuessen :smile: )

Now you should be able to understand some German chocolate bar wrappers :wink:

And now it's time for me to go to sleep.

Be Facebook friends with your uni tutor

My uni tutor (who is here from Canada eh), was selling his suitcase on Facebook :smile: It was only $50 and it's perfectly fine!! At the shops, you're only able to buy a small case for $50.

It has WHEELS!!! :D My old suitcase has broken wheels and is really hard to move around.

Someone has been in my room...putting my shoes into a line... :left:

This is what you buy a Swedish girl for her birthday :D

At 5.30 today I went to the post box and sent my exchange application passport sized photos. I'm so poor that I took the photos myself :wink: I learnt how to control the crop tool too! :idea: So now I've just got to wait for 3-6 weeks to see if I am successful.... :wait: If not, I'm going to CRY!

Yee Ha...Ho Down...Social!

On Friday night there was a party thing at the apartment of the Americans. However, their apartment was filled with GERMANS! Their apartment is soooo cool! You can see for so far (they live on the top floor) and if you need to be sick, you can surprise the people down below waiting at the bus stop :wink: I like apartments. I never want to own a lawnmower!

Dodgy photos from the balcony

A German guy I was helping at uni was there too and even remembered me. The best part of my job is when people see me and say 'Hey, I know you... You're that girl who helped me!' :smile:

We played a drinking game called...well I don't know what it was called, but it was with cards. Each card had a meaning and..hmm it's hard to explain. blah blah blah and if you put a card under the tab of the beer can and the can opened, you had to scull ( or ex ex ex ex) the can of beer. Luckily I didn't have to; I would have been sick!

The game that I don't know the name of

Next we played a game called 'Bunny'. It's SOOOO funny! This website explains it and there are photos too!! :D

Then Mr M and Mr C from downstairs arrived and we played a 'Canadian' (?) game named 'Yee-Ha'. Mr M didn't explain the rules to us so it was a bit confusing at first. It's really funny watching 'smart' foreign students yell at 'Yeee Haaaaa' like a cowboy :lol:

Then we ate cake, which I baked for Miss M, as it was her birthday :hat:

Even though it was a packet cake, everyone liked it. Just look at their smiles! P:

Then we went to the pub where we met up with all the other exchange students.

Mr M went to the bathroom and we had to watch his beer. This is a photo of us watching the beer. I'm the green beer-watcher and the other beer watchers are from Bulgaria and Germany

Now it's time to find some food I guess...

Big fat foreign people exchange student party

, , , ...

There's a MASSIVE party happening this Saturday from 9!!

There's going to be lots and lots of people!! At the moment, nearly 100!

It's going to be REALLY FUN! :D :hat: :drunk:

The party on Saturday will be huge...Guess you shouldn't miss it. At least that's what everybody told me :-)

(German guy)

:cry: I start work at 11pm, so I can't go (ok, I could go for an hour, but it'd take me 1 hour to get there!) I finish work at 4.30am so it will probably be finished... awww

I feel left out awww

The moral of the story: Get a job before you turn 18. Then you wont have to work in a bar every Saturday night, getting spit in your eye, while your friends and everyone you know go to the ueber cool party where all the funny foreign people are and has fun and doesn't even think of you working in the bar with some loser's spit in your eye, getting your hands cut on broken glasses etc etc

:cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

I think I want to have a birthday party this year. But WHERE?! I live 40 minutes with a bus from the city...no one would want to travel all that way...actually, I wouldn't want anyone to come here anyway....then they'd realise that we have the same painting in our lounge room TWICE (one is just faded more than the other) Any ideas? :confused:

Lunch and recent purchases

, , , ...

Welcome back to my blog (there should be a waving smiley)

It's my grandma's birthday on Tuesday so we took her out to lunch today. She said she wanted to go to 'Dundees Hotel/Dundees Crocodile and Wildlife Park'. *sigh* Yes, I actually sighed when I found out we were going there.

After 4.75 hours sleep, I travelled for 1.5 hours with my family to get to an 'all you can eat' restaurant, randomly placed on the side of a freeway... :left:

$18 buys you 'all you can eat'...not that anyone would ever eat $18 worth of food.

Left to right:
Sister- Lots of carbs, some dead animal (iron and protein) and some veggies under there somewhere
Dad- Err weren't you looking up ways to lower cholesterol on the net last night? Well, ok you've got some protein there and some greens...but I don't know what the brown stuff is
Mum- You like potato, hey? Didn't we get 5kg of potatoes for $2 on Thursday? And you paid $18 for this...?
Grandma- sat too far away so didn't get a pic

My mum also ate some prawns. Nothing more classy than ripping out the intestinal tract of a dead sea creature at the dinner table :eyes:

HOT WATER :D My meal...$0...best price EVER :up:

I took a photo of this because it looks pretty :wink: Do you prefer rouns sprinkles or the straight sprinkles?

Then we went home :D I like looking out of the window at the country side which looked like this and this in spots.

This is in a village named Callington. I like clouds.

In other news...

My mum bought 3kg of oranges!!! :yes: :hat: Oranges make me happy. So does porridge. Porridges with oranges in it makes me super happy.

I baked a lemon and poppy seed cake last week. It was definately NOT the best cake I have ever made, probably because I kind of 'invented' the recipe and didn't put enough eggs in. I still ate it though :smile:

Puma shoes are really good in my opinion. Why? I've been wearing the same pair for 5.5 years and they have only started to 'die' recently. I refuse to pay over $50 for shoes, considering shoes priced at $100 are NOT worth $100 (I do learn stuff at uni that I can apply to real life woah! :yikes: )

I found some Converse shoes in a brochure for $50. When I got to one store the woman said
'Oh it's only the blue ones that are $50. The gold are $80'
Me- So a different colour is $30?!
Woman- Yes...
Me- You can keep the shoes then p:

Then I went to another store (the same store but a different location) and took the gold shoes to the check-out. They wanted to charge me $80 for them too! However, I used my knoweldge of small print and generally annoyed the staff and got them for $50 :up:

I also bought a warm polar fleece jumper recently. It's from Paddy Pallin, an outdoor shop where the staff are soooo much more friendly and helpful than the staff in the store I got my shoes from. I asked the guy for a student discount and got one :up:

With my new jumper, I can ride a bike, go hiking and mountain climbing. Wow, a whole world of opportunities awaits me and my jumper

The birthday

, , ,

Last Saturday:
While having lunch with my auntie, she gave me a present for my birthday :smile: I poked it, but couldn't tell what it was.

Wednesday:
Walking up the driveway, I noticed that the letterbox was extrememly full and everything was sticking out the slot (that's good becasue it means you don't have to go inside to get the key-my mum thinks people are so desperate to recycle paper, they'll steal your mail) There was a very big letter sticking out the slot which turned out to be a parcel/package thing...and it was for me :yikes: :D and it was from Germany!! I smiled, took it and poked it a bit and remained confused about what it was.

Thursday:
Upon ariving home from uni, I saw a package on the table...for me :smile: I poked that too, but didn't know what it contained either.

Friday:
Woke up and cooked/ate breakfast as usual, and then remembered that it was my birthday...Porridge was a good start to the day. I opened my presents (from above), smiled and felt happy :smile:

I then opened the present from my parents which was just an envelope. I knew that they'd just give me money. I think it's nice that they give me something...they say they give me money becasue 'you don't like anything we get you!'...well I like everything everyone else gets me, no matter how much it's worth. Out of all the people on the planet, my parents have known me the longest, yet still have no idea about what I like....*confused*

jump jump jumpity jump

In the afternoon I went to the markets and bought some sushi ingredients...for making sushi believe it or not! P: Making it is soooo much fun! :smile: Then my family came over and my cousin helped me make a clafoutis (with peaches becasue fresh cherries are expensive/non-existant and I don't like canned ones). Then we had dinner and no one liked the sushi. My dad refused to taste it.... Before I tried avocado, I thought it was the most horrible fruit/vegetable ever...then I tasted it and became addicted to them over Summer; it was a $2 a day addiction! My friends didn't like the sushi either. One of them didn't try it... I don't know...things like that annoy me. You have to TRY something to be able to say if you like it or not.

I put my cake on the table, gathered some bowls and spoons, put a candle on it, spent 5 minutes looking for matches, lit the candle...looked around...no one even sang happy birthday, instead they just ate the cake! My family make me feel so loved :irked:
