The Birthday

, , , ...

On Sunday I lost my teenager-hood. I also lost my voice. I don't know if it was from smoke or talking to loud...but my voice decided to go on holiday. It arrived back yesterday :smile: But now I'm a bit sick :frown:

Anyway, the birthday....I didn't have a party. I couldn't be bothered organising a party. So, as usual we went for lunch at my grandma's house.

After lunch, I asked my dad if he wanted to go for a walk up a hill. He said no, because it makes him too tired. So, I went by myself. It took me only 12 minutes to get to the top; no pauses! It used to take me mroe than 30 minutes!

Then, my sister and her 'friend' went for another walk with me in the evening. They must have felt sorry for me. I think my hobby is walking up hills. My dad thinks I should go in a walking competition :left:

View from half way up the hill

We took walkie talkies with us. We discovered that you can hear other people and talk to other people. We talked to a guy named Troy.

Then we went to McDonalds because I wanted to have an icecream. And because I can afford to eat icecream at McDonalds; $0.50/icecream :wink:

No, we didn't buy one for the Hoff. Yes, we were too lazy to get out of the car, so we got drive-through

Eating the icecream in the car, in the car park. Is that bogan? :left:

Then we went home and I did my assignment....and my auntie and uncle visited me.

But today was better than my birthday! Because, I got some mail from Germany, from my favourite German :D No one else got me such a nice present.... This parcel was a very special for Intersheep....because....

Intersheep's SISTER was inside!

Now I have three sheep in my flock :smile: I must have shown signs of being a good shepherd, and so that's why I have another sheep :wink:

This little sheep was very hungry and the first thing she did was run to the fridge...

Then she grabbed a spoon and ate lots of icecream. Next time, I'll just buy chocolate...

Today's German Lesson:
In today's lesson, we will learn some ingredients commonly used in 'Du bist ein Engel' German chocolate bars:

Vollmilch-Schokolade = full milk chocolate = milk chocolate
Zutaten = ingredients
Zucker = sugar
Kakaobutter = cocoa butter
Vollmilchpulver= full milk powder
Kakaomasse = cocoa mass
Suessmolkenpulver= I have no idea about what the English is. Sweet whey powder?
Milchzucker= lactose...milk sugar
Emulgator = emulsifying agent
Aroma: natuerliche Vanille= flavour: natural vanilla

Kann Spuren von Nuessen und Erdnuesen enthalten
= May contain traces of nuts and peanuts.
(German people, please explain Erdnuessen and Nuessen :smile: )

Now you should be able to understand some German chocolate bar wrappers :wink:

And now it's time for me to go to sleep.

Week 10 in photos

, , , ...

After 4 hours,I think I've finished my law assignment *jump* :D So now I can blog :smile: I'm doing a subject where we look at aspects of law affecting companies, under the wonderful Corporations Act 2001. For the exam, I have to print out the required sections of the act. One guy from my tutorial printed it out and it cost him $10 in print money!!

On Saturday night I commented on one girl's head band 'Hey, that's a nice headband!' and then she gave it to me :smile:

I'm still walking up the hill (you can see it in the distance here). I like the gates they have at this 'park': one for the human and a litle one for the dog :wink:

Some of the orchids are still flowering too. They get hardly any water here, the soil doesn't have any nutrients but they seem to grow somehow. If you tried to grow them in your garden at home, you'd fail miserably.

This is what the Adelaide traffic control centre looks like. Lots of screens

Fritz, the crazy German guy who you've never heard of before is ALREADY exporting Christmas Stollen to Australia! Actually, the Adelaide City council seems a bit crazy too; they've already put up Christmas decorations in the city centre (American/Canadian translation: downtown)!

Last night I cooked a recipe from 'Jamies Ministry of Food'; chicken with prosciutto. It tasted really good, except for the fact that the ham was really salty! Next time: unsalty ham.

And that concludes today's blog post. Now I've got to finish my accounting theory assignment.....

Ahh I nearly forgot! It's time for a German lesson :D
  • Ich esse gern Stollen=I like to eat stollen
  • ...wenn es Ihnen gerade passt=When it suits you. So you can say....'Sie koennen essen wenn es Ihnen gerade passt'??? (German people, please correct me if I am wrong :smile: ) And the impolite is 'Du kannst essen wenn es DIR gerade passt.????
  • Schutzengel= guardian angel So, 'Fahre nie schneller als dein Schutzengel fliegen kann'...which means 'Never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly'

Week 9

, , , ...

At uni, it's week 9, so here's what happend....

In my house, we get a new point and shoot camera nearly every week.

Up until a month or so ago, I was using a Samsung Digimax A40 (I think). It's 3 years old and has 3 or 4 MP. The view finder screen thing was VERY clear. I liked it. Only problem, you couldn't change any settings (well, I couldn't find a way to)

Then I used 4 other cameras and they all annoyed me for various reasons.
  • The screens were pixely and noisy
  • One didn't have an 'on button'...instead there was an 'on wheel'
  • Too big and if it could talk this particular camera would say 'Hi, I'm Cameron the camera. I'm a point and shoot but in my dreams, I'm a DSLR'
  • One kept grizzling that it was flat
  • One had a 'shield' thing over the lens, that you had to slide across when you wanted to take a photo.

For the past few days I have been using a Kodak M1033 HD(but mine is black) for a while. It looks better than all the others...but it's kind of weird. However, I am able to change the settings such as exposure times and other stuff that only people who know lots about cameras can explain. So, lets see if this one annoys me too.

Some photos (these are not here to show you how good/bad the camera is...because I only worked out how to make it take GOOD pictures 5 minutes ago)

The Hoff lives in a car in my driveway

Water is precious in Australia. You're only allowed a shower once every two weeks P:

It's everyone's favourite friend/sheep/crime fighter/celebrity chef...INTERSHEEP!

Please put your gum into the bin!!

Smelly guy:
Yesterday a guy with an extreme case of BODY ODOUR sat next to me in the computer pool. It was HORRIBLE! I was going to move, but there were no other free computers :frown: Come on, get yourself some anti perspirant!

Echidna
I went walking yesterday and saw an echidna. I didn't have a camera :frown: This echidna has a camera though...and a better one than mine!

FREE icecream
Miss D and I went to McDonalds yesterday afternoon for icecream. The staff made an icecream for someone in the drive though, but the customer didn't want it. The girl asked me if I wanted it. YESSSS! So, I got a free icecream :smile:

That's all for today my friends.

Snake, happy and two songs

, , , ...

After deciding I had done absolutely no exercise in who-knows-how-long, I told myself that I had to do some exercise or I'd end up looking like a lump of lard. Each day for the past four days, I've been walking up a hill. It makes me tired and my legs get sore, but it's good exercise :smile:

Saturday’s walk was particularly exciting. I learnt that you should never walk on little tracks by yourself. Why? You might get bitten by a snake! My dad stopped to tie up his shoe on a rock...and there was an Eastern Brown Snake (second most deadly snake in the world :eyes:) behind the rock.

My dad had his camera with him but the shot he took isn’t the best.. I guess when a deadly snake is in front of you, you don’t really have time to work out the ‘rule of 3rds’, calculate where any shadows will be, set up a tripod etc etc.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I finished work at 1am this morning. I started at 6pm and it wasn't very busy so they let me go home. I would have stayed there for extra money though! I got home and my dad and I were talking in the kitchen:

*Kimbers is happy and laughing*
The dad of Kimbers: Were you drinking at work?
Kimbers: No.
The dad of Kimbers: Oh...you just seem really happy!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two songs:

Somersault from Zero 7

If I ever feel better from Pheonix

What happened to the agreement?

, , , ...

I thought there was an agreement between my mum and me: Don't buy me clothes because when you do, they're ugly and/or always 1000000 sizes to big for me.

I don't know what happened to that agreement because today she bought me some stuff :right:
  • Summer T-shirt: Umm isn't it Winter? Aren't I always saying how COLD it is?
  • Slippers: Too small and they look as bad as a Nissan Micra (That's why their share price went down!)
  • Tracky dacks for PJs: Too long. They're high waisted too :yuck:, so if I wear them low they're even longer...

I'll finally get some exercise tomorrow when I walk to the shops to take all of it back :D

Just my brain and me

, , , ...

Exams start in 2 weeks :insane: Soooo much to learn! I started revision today, staring with the wonderful subject of 'Management Accounting' :up: I got stuck on the first question.... (always a good sign...)

Last year, I got 2 credits and 2 distinctions for my first exams. That's really good! Perhaps the subjects are harder this year...I hardly go out, see my friends and my blogging has decreased because I do homework instead. Last year, I had so much spare time! I even went to Melbourne the week before the exams! :eyes:

So, how to improve my chances of better grades...
  • -Studying: Well duh!
  • -Diet: More omega-3? Or do fish breeders just SAY it's good for you? The aim of any business is to maxamise shareholder wealth (I have been listening in class), so they'll say anything to achieve this.
  • -No alcohol: Then why are the exchange students (who drink lots!) SO SMART?! They study hard stuff too, for example 'Masters of Logistics', 'Maths' and 'Engineering'.
  • -Exercise: Probably good. Don't want to turn into a lump of lard. The increased blood flow should help my brain.
  • -Sleep: Need more sleep :smile:

It's just you and me brain!! :love:

Now for a random photo:

Intersheep's favourite plant is 'Lamb's ears'

Sultana Grape Cake

, , , ...

This recipe is from my favourite cooking show, The Cook and the Chef. It's a really yummy lemony cake :smile:

What you need to find/buy/steal/borrow
  • 3 eggs
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil (I think I forgot to put this in my cake, so save money and don't put it in)
  • 60g butter, melted
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 200g plain flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon baking powder (this is 1/2 the original recipe..and I think it was still too much)
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • nutmeg
  • 3 cups of sultana grapes (little ones are good. Or, just cut bigger ones in half)
  • Some crushed/chopped walnuts (cracked open with a wire stripper)

What to do

Heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Grease a springform tin (Or a normal one if your mum doesn't randomly go to the shop and buy cake tins)

Beat the eggs and sugar. Add the butter, milk and if you remember, the oil and mix it all together. Then, add the lemon zest.

Sift in the plain flor and baking soda, a bit at a time. Add 2.25 cups of the sultana grapes. Now taste some of the mix. Yes, it's raw egg, but it tastes really good :smile:

Put the mix in the tin and bake it for 15 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.

Next, open the oven door and put the remaining 3/4 cup of grapes and walnuts on top of the cake. Bake it for a further 40 minutes.

Then you can eat it and make some new friends. Everyone knows you can make friends with food :wink:

My new friend :smile: It's a possum (I don't know if you can get them outside Australia...)

Oh, nearly forgot! I need to be socially responsible: Please eat cake in moderation. Exercise is an important part of keeping healthy. Be careful with hot ovens. Here's (WARNING-disturbing image!) some inspiration to make you exercise after eating the delicious cake p:
