This is just a piece of marketing....

Nominations are open for the My Opera Awards .... I just realised these existed now!

Have my blog entries ever made you smile?
Have you learnt something about Aussie culture from my blog?
Have you learnt anything from my blog?
Has my blog amused you on rainy days when there is nothing to do and all your friends are hanging out with their significant other and don't have time for you?
Has my blog ever made you laugh?
Did you ever receive a prize from me, for winning a Christmas decoration competition? :wink:
Do you like it how my blog isn't just snippits from 'funny' stuff I found on the internet?
Do you think it's cool how I don't take emo photos of myself, play around with the saturation and put them on here?

If you answered YES to any of the above, why not nominate me for 'Best blog by a female''

It would be an honour for me to be nominated. You know, I don't know what I want to be when I 'grow up'...so maybe I can just be famous on the internet? P: You can make it possible!

PS:
Thank you to our friend [URL=http://my.opera.com/sanshan/blog/San, who nominated me :smile:

The Birthday

, , , ...

On Sunday I lost my teenager-hood. I also lost my voice. I don't know if it was from smoke or talking to loud...but my voice decided to go on holiday. It arrived back yesterday :smile: But now I'm a bit sick :frown:

Anyway, the birthday....I didn't have a party. I couldn't be bothered organising a party. So, as usual we went for lunch at my grandma's house.

After lunch, I asked my dad if he wanted to go for a walk up a hill. He said no, because it makes him too tired. So, I went by myself. It took me only 12 minutes to get to the top; no pauses! It used to take me mroe than 30 minutes!

Then, my sister and her 'friend' went for another walk with me in the evening. They must have felt sorry for me. I think my hobby is walking up hills. My dad thinks I should go in a walking competition :left:

View from half way up the hill

We took walkie talkies with us. We discovered that you can hear other people and talk to other people. We talked to a guy named Troy.

Then we went to McDonalds because I wanted to have an icecream. And because I can afford to eat icecream at McDonalds; $0.50/icecream :wink:

No, we didn't buy one for the Hoff. Yes, we were too lazy to get out of the car, so we got drive-through

Eating the icecream in the car, in the car park. Is that bogan? :left:

Then we went home and I did my assignment....and my auntie and uncle visited me.

But today was better than my birthday! Because, I got some mail from Germany, from my favourite German :D No one else got me such a nice present.... This parcel was a very special for Intersheep....because....

Intersheep's SISTER was inside!

Now I have three sheep in my flock :smile: I must have shown signs of being a good shepherd, and so that's why I have another sheep :wink:

This little sheep was very hungry and the first thing she did was run to the fridge...

Then she grabbed a spoon and ate lots of icecream. Next time, I'll just buy chocolate...

Today's German Lesson:
In today's lesson, we will learn some ingredients commonly used in 'Du bist ein Engel' German chocolate bars:

Vollmilch-Schokolade = full milk chocolate = milk chocolate
Zutaten = ingredients
Zucker = sugar
Kakaobutter = cocoa butter
Vollmilchpulver= full milk powder
Kakaomasse = cocoa mass
Suessmolkenpulver= I have no idea about what the English is. Sweet whey powder?
Milchzucker= lactose...milk sugar
Emulgator = emulsifying agent
Aroma: natuerliche Vanille= flavour: natural vanilla

Kann Spuren von Nuessen und Erdnuesen enthalten
= May contain traces of nuts and peanuts.
(German people, please explain Erdnuessen and Nuessen :smile: )

Now you should be able to understand some German chocolate bar wrappers :wink:

And now it's time for me to go to sleep.

Fish with a chorizo crust, smart sheep

, , , ...

Tonight I made fish. I do like fish. It tastes good and it's cheap!

Around this part of the world a steak from the supermarket costs $6 or $7. Four slices of whiting fish costs less than $2! Australia: An island surrounded by sea (that's where fish LIVE) and where does the supermarket fish come from? CHINA! :irked:

This recipe is taken from Dave and Si, the Hairy Bikers. They are sooo cool! They are definately the funniest 'TV chefs' I have ever seen.

What you need:
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • Some white fish fillets (I used four)
  • About 4 slices of bread, chopped into pieces
  • 1 chorizo sausage, skinned and chopped
  • Some black pepper
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • Some parsley
  • A bit of butter

What to do:
  • Preheat your oven to 180 degrees C
  • Place fish into a container/bowl, pour over lime juice, let it stand for 30 minutes
  • While you wait, make the chorizo mix: Place the bread and chorizo into a roasting tin (I used a cake tin) and put it into the oven for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, take it out and let it cool a bit.
  • Blend the bread/chorizo mix (or you can just use your hands like I did), add in the parsley, garlic, pepper and lime zest...blend more (or just mix it).
  • Place the fish, skin side down into a tin/roasting tin. I used a slice tin.
  • Put the bread/chorizo mix onto the fish, pressing it down. Make it thick.
  • Place a little bit of butter onto the fish
  • Place foil over the tin and bake for 20 minutes.

These are great kitchen utensils :)

Other stuff:
I'll pay for my trip next week :worried: I'm scared. I've never spent so much money before! I've never had money TO SPEND before!

This is what my sister's 'friend' calls 'tea/dinner' :left:

Sweet intersheep is so clever. I'm a very proud shepherd! :happy: Maybe he/she can help me with my assignment :idea:

Today, my friends asked me what I'd like to do once I finish uni: 'Umm..I don't know...I'd like to be a gypsy ...not one of those crazy ones though! I'd have a wagon and a monkey, without rabies, and we'd sing and dance' :eyes: Perhaps I was a gypsy in a previous life and I had a pet monkey without rabies! :D Maybe I was THE MONKEY without rabies! :eek: Can monkeys even get rabies? Does anyone here have a pet monkey?

Royal Adelaide Show 2008 and Canon competition

, , , ...

The Royal Adelaide Show is a big fair. It goes for about a week every September and thousands of people go to it. There are rides, games, cake decorating, art competitions, cooking competitions, animal competitions (chickens, sheep, cows, dogs) etc. You have to pay to get in, pay for food, pay for the rides, pay for showbags etc. Some idiots spend $500 for just one day at the show!! :eyes:

What is a showbag? Showbags are promotional material by large companies. For example, $10 will buy you a Cadbury Chocolate showbag, which will contain a range of Cadbury chocolates. They were once free, but the companies worked out that people would actually pay for them.

Carcase competition: This competition involves high school children looking after a cow (one of those big ones for meat...I don't know what you call them) for however long it takes a cow to grow up. The judges judge all the cows when they are alive. The next day, all the cows go on a drive up the freeway to the slaughter house, are killed and then they are judged hanging on a hook :frown: All the children cry and miss their cow! After the cows have been judged, they are sold to the market and bought by you and me.

Cake decorating

:yuck: Bogans and cars....I don't understand how people can be interested in these cars. If you're going to be interested in cars, why not be interested in foreign, expensive cars?

This is the 'Grand Parade' where all the animals walk around the oval. Why? I don't know...so my dad can take photos of them?

A guy with a cool hat on the side of a horse

A horse jumping over a fence

These guys chop wood...why? I don't know...Because it's fun to chop stuff? I enjoy chopping/cutting up big pieces of paper into tiny pieces of paper.

One of thse things that I've never been on.

I got a box from Canon today. It's for a photo competition. In the box there are some objects and you have to take photos of them. There are 10 winners, which receive up to $5000 worth of Canon EOS products. I won't win.

There are two categories: Professional and ameteur, which is unfair! Professional= You earn more than $20,000 from photography/year. So, someone with a very cool camera who earns $18,000/year from photography is in the same category as me; the poor uni student with a dodgy point and shoot.

My model will be INTERSHEEP!!!!! He/she has long legs...

The objects are:
  • A red ribbon
  • Tea lights (those littlecandles)
  • A pink crayon
  • A blue cocktail umbrella
  • Bubble mix (I'm assuming they don't want photos of the container, but of the bubbles)

Now I'm on my way to bed. I'm lucky enough to visit the doctor tomorrow! The best part is waiting in the waiting room and watching people. It amuses me. So does watching people on the bus. There's a guy who looks like Dave Grohl in the video for 'Learn to Fly' and a girl who looks like she's from the Famous Five. Yep, I'm a simple person living in an over complicated world full of share options, insurance, exothermic plastics and syringe disposal units.

Goodnight :smile:

Letter, vegetables and Intersheep

, , , ...

I'm happy :smile:

This afternoon I received an email from my uni saying that they have accepted my application for exchange. I have to go to a meeting where I'll receive the application forms for the German university :up:

Intersheep is in my bag and ready to go to Germany ALREADY!! That sheep needs a calendar!

Now for some photos. I'm using a different camera (one that my dad used to use) with 8 mega pixels. My dad got a new one with a bigger optical zoom. Now he takes photos of useless random stuff (wall paper, clocks...) just so he can zoom in on it :lol:

It's normal for people to HATE brussel sprouts. I can't see what is so horrible about them. They're sooooo good!! My cousin, who cried when she first tried icecream even likes them :wink:

This is Intersheep's new favourite mug :wink:

Now it's probably time for some homework :frown:

My facial structure and a new table

, , , ...

Intersheep is looking at me and smiling :smile: Hiiiiii Intersheep!!

What's with all the freaks lately?!?!?

I was standing at the bus stop and a random freaky guy wearing a beanie walked up to me:
Random freaky guy: Hi. Are you Polish?
Me: Umm I'm half Polish
Random freaky guy: I could tell.
Me: How?
Random freaky guy: The Polish have beautiful facial structures. You have it. You definately do.
Me: *weird facial expression and a nod* Uh huh....
*Random freaky guy walks away and sits down on a bench*
:left:

Why do freaks always hang out at bus stops?

Important news!
We got a new table! WOAH! I bet you all needed/wanted to know that p: It's a bit big for our house though, but it looks better than our old one.
I'm not a religious person, but we Christened the table today, by putting the laptop on it :cool:

Intersheep on a bike?!

Intersheep, where is your bike?! You never told me you liked cycling.... Did you leave it in Germany?
