Snake, happy and two songs

, , , ...

After deciding I had done absolutely no exercise in who-knows-how-long, I told myself that I had to do some exercise or I'd end up looking like a lump of lard. Each day for the past four days, I've been walking up a hill. It makes me tired and my legs get sore, but it's good exercise

Saturday’s walk was particularly exciting. I learnt that you should never walk on little tracks by yourself. Why? You might get bitten by a snake! My dad stopped to tie up his shoe on a rock...and there was an Eastern Brown Snake (second most deadly snake in the world :eyes:) behind the rock.

My dad had his camera with him but the shot he took isn’t the best.. I guess when a deadly snake is in front of you, you don’t really have time to work out the ‘rule of 3rds’, calculate where any shadows will be, set up a tripod etc etc.

I finished work at 1am this morning. I started at 6pm and it wasn't very busy so they let me go home. I would have stayed there for extra money though! I got home and my dad and I were talking in the kitchen:

*Kimbers is happy and laughing*
The dad of Kimbers: Were you drinking at work?
Kimbers: No.
The dad of Kimbers: Oh...you just seem really happy!

Kaffeeklatsch: Informal gathering to talk and drink coffee.
der Suffkopf: Drunken person acting like an idiot.
These words were taken from Spread Germanisms

Since, I'll be going to a German airport, lets learn how to say something airporty...
Airport terminal: das Flughafenabfertigungsgebäude :eyes: Or you can say das Flughafengebäude

8.45am in the computer room

, , , ...

I was in the uni computer room this morning at the early hour of 8.45am. There was one other individual on the other side of the room...far far away (60+ computers in this room).

Anyway, one guy walked behind me...then came back and SAT NEXT TO ME!...WHAT? Why would you sit next to me when there are 58 other spare computers?! The computer he sat down at was also OFF :eyes: There were others that were already on.

He sat down and looked at me...then started sipping his coffee really loudly...looked at me some more...I sat trying to ignore him. Then he started playing loud dance music...and looking for my reaction. Then he started laughing....and singing to the really loud dance music...and looking at me more. Then he started looking at what I was typing. International business strategies are not that interesting...or are they?

I was ready to hit this guy in the face. He was sooooo annoying! After 1 HOUR, I packed up my stuff to go to a meeting. Then he started at me and I started at him and gave him a look which said 'What is your problem?!'

Don't mess with me. I am a bar chick and I'm not scared at yelling at strangers! :D

At the bus stop (yep, freaks always hang out at the bus stop) I was standing in the sun (yep, I'm a reptile  ) and a bogan guy stood next to me...There's lots of other places to stand you know! Then he asked me 'Is this Tea Tree Plaza?' I replied with 'Yes'. How can you not know if you are at Tea Tree Plaza or not?! It's the second biggest shopping complex in the STATE! If I wasn't such a poor student, I would have bought this bogan some breath mints because I nearly died from the smell seeping from his mouth. I wonder if my medical insurance covers 'Death by bogany bad breath?'

Did you know 50% of Aussies don't get enough fibre?
Nope?
Neither did I.
Now you've learnt 2 things

Fish with a chorizo crust, smart sheep

, , , ...

Tonight I made fish. I do like fish. It tastes good and it's cheap!

Around this part of the world a steak from the supermarket costs $6 or $7. Four slices of whiting fish costs less than $2! Australia: An island surrounded by sea (that's where fish LIVE) and where does the supermarket fish come from? CHINA! :irked:

This recipe is taken from Dave and Si, the Hairy Bikers. They are sooo cool! They are definately the funniest 'TV chefs' I have ever seen.

What you need:
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • Some white fish fillets (I used four)
  • About 4 slices of bread, chopped into pieces
  • 1 chorizo sausage, skinned and chopped
  • Some black pepper
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • Some parsley
  • A bit of butter

What to do:
  • Preheat your oven to 180 degrees C
  • Place fish into a container/bowl, pour over lime juice, let it stand for 30 minutes
  • While you wait, make the chorizo mix: Place the bread and chorizo into a roasting tin (I used a cake tin) and put it into the oven for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, take it out and let it cool a bit.
  • Blend the bread/chorizo mix (or you can just use your hands like I did), add in the parsley, garlic, pepper and lime zest...blend more (or just mix it).
  • Place the fish, skin side down into a tin/roasting tin. I used a slice tin.
  • Put the bread/chorizo mix onto the fish, pressing it down. Make it thick.
  • Place a little bit of butter onto the fish
  • Place foil over the tin and bake for 20 minutes.

These are great kitchen utensils :)

Other stuff:
I'll pay for my trip next week :worried: I'm scared. I've never spent so much money before! I've never had money TO SPEND before!

This is what my sister's 'friend' calls 'tea/dinner' :left:

Sweet intersheep is so clever. I'm a very proud shepherd! Maybe he/she can help me with my assignment

Today, my friends asked me what I'd like to do once I finish uni: 'Umm..I don't know...I'd like to be a gypsy ...not one of those crazy ones though! I'd have a wagon and a monkey, without rabies, and we'd sing and dance' :eyes: Perhaps I was a gypsy in a previous life and I had a pet monkey without rabies! :D Maybe I was THE MONKEY without rabies! Can monkeys even get rabies? Does anyone here have a pet monkey?

Choc-orange cake

Choc Orange Cake

I like oranges. I like cake. I like chocolate.

I made this cake last night. It's VERY simple

You will need:
100g butter (or spread- I used spread)
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons of cocoa dissolved in 2 tablespoons of boiling water
zest of 1 orange
2/3 cup self-raising flour, sifted
2 tablsepoons of orangejuice (from the orange above)

What you need to do
  • Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius
  • Grease a cake tin (around 20cm in diameter) and line the base with baking paper
  • Cream the butter and sugar.
  • Add the eggs and mix.
  • Mix in the cocoa and orange zest.
  • Mix in the flour and the orangejuice
  • Place the mixture into the cake tin and bake it for 45 minutes
  • Cool the cake in the tin.

You can make an orange icing for the cake if you want to. All you need is some icing sugar and orangejuice, heat it on the stove until it is at your desired thickness.

(The basic idea for this recipe was taken from 'Cake Bible' 2006, Penguin Books)

Yummmmmm. Fruit! With porridge and sultana, it's even better  That spoon is my favourite spoon. Eating breakfast using another spoon just isn't the same :frown:

Our cat has a new friend; the frypan. We got a new frypan(1) so the old one has been sitting on the floor for the last week :worried: At least the cat still likes the old frypan. What a nice cat!

(1) Woah, what's happening? It all started with a NEW KETTLE! Then a new toothbrush....then new slippers...then a new table and now a new frypan! :eyes: Don't forget the 'new'/second hand suitcase on wheels either! p:

I have great news to tell you, but that will have to wait until next time

Accountants

, , , ...

I'm studying Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in accounting is no one knew... I was looking on the uni's website and thought it would be cool to do 'Masters of International Business' Ooo sounds clever. It only takes 1 yr!

"Accounts are NOT bean counters! We're DECISION MAKERS! We make MILLION DOLLAR decisions EVERY DAY! Do you want to go to work and say 'I'm going to make a million dollar decision today?' YES YOU DO!! You don't want to go to work, sit at a desk and ask yourself 'Is this a liability or an asset?' That's for the person at the RECEPTION DESK!"

Accounting tutor

"I'm sure Mannheim will accept your application. If not, tell me...we're going to beat them up, when we're back in germany "

German guy

"I'm an international student. If I overstay my visa, the government will throw me out of the country"

Some English sounding guy in my class

It was great meeting you... I'll always remember you as the girl that bought me my first drink

One of my Canadian friends

Lecturer: Back in my day, we never had computers...we didn't have Skype or the internet

Me: Look at that picture on the slide. Back in his day, he never had an internet friend or an internet stalker :worried: Poor guy

I just realised that I have less than 2 months of 'teenager-hood' left.....

Be Facebook friends with your uni tutor

, , , ...

My uni tutor (who is here from Canada eh), was selling his suitcase on Facebook  It was only $50 and it's perfectly fine!! At the shops, you're only able to buy a small case for $50.

It has WHEELS!!! :D My old suitcase has broken wheels and is really hard to move around.

Someone has been in my room...putting my shoes into a line... :left:

This is what you buy a Swedish girl for her birthday :D

At 5.30 today I went to the post box and sent my exchange application passport sized photos. I'm so poor that I took the photos myself  I learnt how to control the crop tool too! So now I've just got to wait for 3-6 weeks to see if I am successful.... :wait: If not, I'm going to CRY!
