Last day of February, Miss J and I went to Kaiserslautern. Neither of us had any plans, so we decided to go there because it was free with our 'Semesterticket'.

One Weeek!!!

, , , ...

One week until I leave Adelaide!!! It's 3 degrees in Germany at the moment! :eyes: I was complaining when it was 15 degrees here last week.

I have lots of stuff to do: do exam, get passport photos, get bank statement stuff, buy presents for people, go to dentist, write to my uni, go to my farewell party, attend to a houseparty, attend to my sister's birthday party, buy jeans, buy battery charger, buy memory card reader, get a student card, print stuff, clean room, pack bag ...and more!

I had my last exam yesterday  I'd prefer not to discuss it as if I did, I'd require counselling :frown:

Ugh the Australian dollar only buys 49 Euro cents! I should have bought Euros in October...I guess I hsould buy them now before the Australian dollar loses MORE value. All students going on exchange to Europe were hoping the Euro would go down in value. Well, it did...but the Australian dollar went down even more in value. So, I have lost more than 1000 Euro!!!! :irked:

Fridge
Does anyone remember the photo of my fridge that I put on here? It was covered with paper and magnets and more paper and about 3 calendars!

I got back from work last Sunday morning....walked into the kitchen and thought I was in another house. Someone had cleaned the fridge!!

For my parents, cleaning the fridge on a Saturday night is great fun!

Light
In Australia, if you have children, the government will give you a 'family contribution' (or something). It's a payment so that you can look after your kids. In previous years, the government gave my family a $130 payment! WOAH! Big money :left: Unfortunately, we're now classified as 'too rich' to get this payment.

We calculated, that as a result of our economic standing we'd be able to get some things fixed. We got an original 1967 toilet fitting changed! On Saturday morning we got a new kitchen light fitting!

The original was from the 80s, broken and hanging off the ceiling...

The 'changing of the light fitting' was such a monumental event on our family's 2008 calendar that we took a photo of the electrician! p:

Curly butter! It's the simple things that amaze me...

Fish with a chorizo crust, smart sheep

, , , ...

Tonight I made fish. I do like fish. It tastes good and it's cheap!

Around this part of the world a steak from the supermarket costs $6 or $7. Four slices of whiting fish costs less than $2! Australia: An island surrounded by sea (that's where fish LIVE) and where does the supermarket fish come from? CHINA! :irked:

This recipe is taken from Dave and Si, the Hairy Bikers. They are sooo cool! They are definately the funniest 'TV chefs' I have ever seen.

What you need:
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • Some white fish fillets (I used four)
  • About 4 slices of bread, chopped into pieces
  • 1 chorizo sausage, skinned and chopped
  • Some black pepper
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • Some parsley
  • A bit of butter

What to do:
  • Preheat your oven to 180 degrees C
  • Place fish into a container/bowl, pour over lime juice, let it stand for 30 minutes
  • While you wait, make the chorizo mix: Place the bread and chorizo into a roasting tin (I used a cake tin) and put it into the oven for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, take it out and let it cool a bit.
  • Blend the bread/chorizo mix (or you can just use your hands like I did), add in the parsley, garlic, pepper and lime zest...blend more (or just mix it).
  • Place the fish, skin side down into a tin/roasting tin. I used a slice tin.
  • Put the bread/chorizo mix onto the fish, pressing it down. Make it thick.
  • Place a little bit of butter onto the fish
  • Place foil over the tin and bake for 20 minutes.

These are great kitchen utensils :)

Other stuff:
I'll pay for my trip next week :worried: I'm scared. I've never spent so much money before! I've never had money TO SPEND before!

This is what my sister's 'friend' calls 'tea/dinner' :left:

Sweet intersheep is so clever. I'm a very proud shepherd! Maybe he/she can help me with my assignment

Today, my friends asked me what I'd like to do once I finish uni: 'Umm..I don't know...I'd like to be a gypsy ...not one of those crazy ones though! I'd have a wagon and a monkey, without rabies, and we'd sing and dance' :eyes: Perhaps I was a gypsy in a previous life and I had a pet monkey without rabies! :D Maybe I was THE MONKEY without rabies! Can monkeys even get rabies? Does anyone here have a pet monkey?
