How long does it take to walk to the main station?

, , , ...

After a discussion between two Germans about how long it took to walk from one part of Duesseldorf to the Hauptbahnhof, Miss Kimbers decided to investigate.

She left the building at 11am, 26 January 2009. She walked...and walked...and walked some more. Then, she walked, looked at the map, walked again, looked at the map, sniffed a lot, wiped her hose while walking AT THE SAME TIME...then walked some more. After 4, 5 or 6km of walking, she arrived at the Hauptbahnhof. It was 11.54am, 26 January 2009.

So, kids, it takes a total of 54 minutes to walk to the Hauptbahnhof. A faster walk, and you could get there in 45 minutes.

Miss Kimbers likes to walk, so she decided to walk some more. She tried to find the big monkey, painted on the side of a building, somewhere along the railway line. However, she didn't find it. Then she walked to Friedrichstadt...and then back to the Hauptbahnhof. Then she travelled with the U-Bahn to the AltStadt, where she bought a croissant for 0.69 Euro. It tastes good but was consumed too quickly and it was gone.

Photos from the walk:

Do not run: Rent a bike.

Germans love to recycle. When looking for a partner, the Germans look for qualities such as looks, German efficiency, and of course recycling ability.

If you go out in the woods today

, , , ...

If you go out in the woods today,
You'd better not go alone.
It's lovely out in the woods today,
But safer to stay at home.

There's a stalker in the woods. It (yes I'm not sure if it's male of female) will follow you, hiding in the buses, slowly watching you. If you go out in the woods, make sure you take a bodyguard with you. I recommend my cousin! I was ready to go back. Eventhough you can hear me laughing in the background, I can assure you , I thought my headstone would read 'killed by an emu while looking for a Christmas tree'. At least it's better than 'Died peacefully in her sleep'. Australia IS a DANGEROUS place!!!! I cannot stress that enough!

Some pics from the walk/yesterday:

Awww  That's the same dog that was dressed in a skirt the other week.

Der Hügel ist mit Blumen geschmückt

, , , ...

I discovered a new track yesterday and it's so much better than the old one I used to walk along. The weather was really great too! There are a lot more plants along this track too, so here are some photos.

And now a question for the German speaking people- why is it 'mit Blumen geschmueckt' and not 'dekoriert'? (I found it on dict.leo.org)

All these crackers are making me thirsty!

I went walking (again) today. When I'm bored and have enough energy to get dressed, I choose to walk. It's not bad though, it's exercise!

All this walking I've been doing lately must be doing something...I walked to the ruins today and I DIDN'T get worn out, like I used to! Or maybe it's just the fact that it has been 36C every other time I have walked there... However, all the walking and exercise hasn't boosted my immune system. It's currently taking a rest- I have a cold. This probably has something to do with my diet, which mainly consists of bananas, eggs, pears, oranges, green tea, 2 types of crackers, extra matured cheese, toast, butter and water....

The ruins are the remains of what used to be a nursery as far as I know. I took some pictures, the sun wasn't out unfortunately. Just as I began walking back home, the sun came out...:irked: That's pretty much how my life goes.... Changing subject...I don't know if I'm going to have a birthday party this year...but if I do, I want it somewhere original-like at the ruins or on top of a hill somewhere...just somewhere which requires people to go to an effort to get there. You know, climbing hills, jumping fences, getting muddy shoes, getting chased by wild animals...Mwahahaha p:

Lastly, if English isn't your first language, please tell me what noise an elephant makes in your language! I'm conducting a VERY important survey

Anstey's Hill

, , , ...

I went walking in Anstey's Hill yesterday and today. Anstey's Hill is basically a large area covered by trees and bushes. It used to be a quarry/mine, so there are some ruins there too. Yesterday it started raining...luckily I brought an umbrella  Today I walked from where this photo was taken, to the hill, indicated by the red arrow. It didn't seem very far, but it looks like a long way.

If you look hard enough in Spring, you'll find some native orchids. In Winter you can find these...I have no idea what they are.

I also found these kangaroo foot prints in the mud.
