Skinny jeans in a heatwave

, , , , , , , , , , , ,

It's so hot here!!!! Take a look at the forecast, brought to you by the wonderful people at the Bureau of Meterology

Wednesday isn't on here, but it will be 38...I should move to Mt Barker, it'll only be 37! Lucky Mt Barkerins! P: Is this a reason to go to church? Isn't hell a LOT hotter than 39? :left:

I decided to wear skinny jeans and a shirt today, during the 'hottest march ever' It wasn't that bad when I was inside the library at uni. However, I had to catch a bus home :irked:

There are two types of buses; new and old. The new ones have great air-conditioning  Life is surprising; You never know what kind of bus you'll get. Of course, I knew I'd get an old one with a broken air conditioner. I was right! :irked: I rolled up my jeans, but they're skinny jeans so they don't roll up past a certain point. Naturally, this didn't help cool me down. After 40 minutes I arrived at my stop... my jeans were wet and stuck to my legs, my shirt was wet and I was REALLY angry!

Earlier in the day I was at the traffic lights and there were two foreign (well, they weren't ugly and they weren't speaking English P:) guys in front of me. They had some unfashionably pink skin. It's not only foreign people who underestimate just how harmful the sun is here. Every year, around 400000 Australians are diagnosed with skin cancer and we're told about the dangers nearly each day! Take a look at this video. It's about a girl who got skin cancer from being in the sun too much and from going to solariums.

So, who still wants to come to Australia (or Adelaide) for a Summer holiday? :D

Stay tuned! Next time: How to make your blog worth more, fires in bins and gorillas in convertibles .

But we really need a big house!Fires in bins, gorillas in cars..but wait there's more!

Oh my, that girl was too young to die! My sister in law's mother died from skin cancer too. She lived on a farm and so was outside in the sun a lot. She also had very fair skin. The melanoma was actually a very small spot on her foot of all places. Not ever exposed to the sun at all! I suppose I should be more careful, but at 46, after years of going out in the sun (I tanned a lot as a teenage) my skin still looks youthful and I have few freckles or moles. I do wear sunscreen all the time though.

Anyway, that's pretty hot for March. :ko: Isn't January usually the hottest time? I can't believe you'd wear jeans in that weather.

oh god that's horrible...that poor girl! She didn't even look sick...

A very good reason to stay nice and pale I think, something I aspire to maintain with my paler than pale skin (not that it's much of a problem in Scotland)

Wow that's hot! How do you ever manage to get any work done?

When I was working in the outback near Alice Springs it was in the 40's most days, and I hated being that hot and not being able to go outside for a walk without getting all sweaty, burnt, and dehydrated. The wind was like a hot hairdryer blowing in your face! I spent most of the time indoors in the company of my best friend the air conditioning machine

I hope it cools down a bit soon for you...when does that happen? Not for another couple of months yet? I didn't know it could be that hot down on the south coast at this time of year, I thought your summer was over now!

Wow very hot, which temperatur have we now?... 2 - 6* Celsius? :D

schmienz- But her room is the coolest room

san- You do find that sunscreen makes your skin go weird? February is usually the hottest and March is supposed to be 'nice' (hence we have lots of festivals in March)...not this year though!

kirsten- hehe paler than pale. Better than brown and dead! My arms are kind of brown and my legs are pure white so I look really stupid when I wear a dress. Hence I don't wear them much  I think this will be the last lot of the heat...however, it looks like it'll last until NEXT Wednesday :frown:

deadcantdance- That's COLD!! I think I still prefer 39 over 2
