Last two weeks was "Paris Cinéma" film festival. This year, I don't go seeing a lot of movies like last year (where the theme was Corea), but I saw three movies of the malaysian director Yasmin AHMAD, and it was wonderful.
First I saw "Mukhsin", telling the story of Yasmin AHMAD first "love", when she was ten years old. In the movie, her name is Orked. This movie is like the smell of blossoms in a quiet afternoon, somewhere in a tropical place. And children's flying a kite.
Second was "Chinese Eyes" ; now Orked is a teenager, and this movie tell how she falls in love with a chinese boy, "Jason".
Last was "Anxiety", again with the same characters but now Orked is married (but still young). Her father fall ill, and she meets the elder brother of "Jason".What is so wonderful in Yasmin AHMAD work, is the fact that each movie is not a drama, neither a comedy, is not romantic neither violent, but all of these things at the same time. And sometimes in the same scene.
Like real life.
