Super-talented indie rock genius (yeah, we’re a bit smitten, got a problem with that?) PJ Harvey will be screening the videos accompanying her Mercury-winning 2011 album Let England Shake at the Hay Literary Festival in June.
Shot, edited and directed by Seamus Murphy, the 12 clips were all conceived by the war photographer as a response to the 12 tracks of Let England Shake. The project saw Murphy go up and down our sceptred isle shooting scenes of everyday life and some pretty stunning countryside, and accompanying them with images from his work in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Middle East. Check out the video to ‘The Last Living Rose’
The full 12 videos will be screened at the Literary Festival on June 6, followed by a Q&A with Seamus Murphy (Peej isn’t billed as attending herself, but you never know…). If you can’t make it however, don’t fret, as you can see all 12 clips here, and they’re collected together in a pretty spiffing DVD package, which you can buy right now.
