Blur takes some time to get going, mainly because at first it doesn't exactly know what it wants to be. While the marketing portrays it as a grown up Mario Kart, it feels like an arcade racer due to the ridiculous speed and locations with simulator handling. In reality it's a little bit of all three, and while it might mix the thrills of other franchises it makes for an addictive formula.

Alan Wake is a successful writer struggling to find inspiration for his next book. The torment and haunting presence of a blank page is something we can acknowledge at Gamestyle, nevertheless this project has taken Remedy almost a decade to reach fruition.

Gamestyle has fond memories of the earlier adventures of Link in his quest to rescue Princess Zelda. Although today's games are blessed with 3D graphics and 360 degree control, we still have plenty of time for two dimensions and 8-bit sounds. 3D Dot Game Heroes attempts to unite two generations of gaming, with the classic gameplay of Zelda meeting next gen graphics. It's the ultimate homage that reminds us of the joys of retro gaming. Unfortunately, it also reminds us of the woes.

For years, when you thought of skateboarding games you thought of Tony Hawk. The skating legend's name was likely more known for his games than his profession in some cases. With the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skateboarding on the Playstation a new genre was born. It was Mr Hawk's game that was the front runner and pretty much owned the genre for years. Truth be told though, it was a genre that had become very stale, that was until, the team from Black Box stepped up and gave us a new option in 'Skate'.
