Blur takes some time to get going, mainly because at first it doesn't exactly know what it wants to be. While the marketing portrays it as a grown up Mario Kart, it feels like an arcade racer due to the ridiculous speed and locations with simulator handling. In reality it's a little bit of all three, and while it might mix the thrills of other franchises it makes for an addictive formula.

ModNation Racers is one of Gamestyle's most anticipated games of the year. The mixture of Mario Kart racing and Little Big Planet's customisation should be a recipe for hours of fun. Unfortunately, the long loading times leave a bitter taste.

When the Burnout series took a left turn to an open world setting, it left a massive gap in the market for linear mission based quick burst arcade fun. Black Rock's Split/Second looks to fill that void.

The World Cup is almost within reach and Pure Football is Ubisoft's attempt to offer five-a-side thrills with a host of famous faces. It's a brave stab at creating a viable experience freed from the constraints of FIFA 10 and alike, but a flawed one.
