Random babblings from an underproductive mind.

Out and about.

Today, I have been up the hills of Slottskogen, which I have writen about here before, showing Håkan and his Ugandan girlfriend, Lisa, the animals; elk, seals, penguins, Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs, goats, pelicans, and fantastic views over the city. Slottskogen (The Castle Forest, although I have seen no castle).

And then I was out in the forests of Västra Frölunda with Atos, having feasted on take-away food from Solrosen with Kaija. It's wonderfull out there, although a tad dangerous once it gets dark; lots of cracks in the rock, drops of several feet. Once, I walked across a thinly iced lake because I didn't see it in the snow. But I've been lucky so far.

Not entirely as I planned it; I had hoped to visit Bo, my ex's dad, in hospital. But not at all a bad day.

In two weeks, it'll be a year since Karin left me, and she'll be thirty-five. I miss her. Hopefully, she's happy. She really is a great person and deserves nothing but the best.

Sounds like a good day after all... but snow?! :brrr:

You have a good heart, Gavin.

Gavin Sheedy 18. October 2009, 18:43

The snow was another time in that forest.

I'm just doing the best I can, like most of us I suppose. Thanks!

r♡se 18. October 2009, 18:49

A forest-y Sunday then? Sounds nice, but you better be careful when walking in the second one! :eyes:

Kitty 18. October 2009, 18:50

I cross my fingers that the winter will be mild! I am very sensitive to cold, so I prefer my winters snow-free.

Well... you're welcome. It's nice to see.

Hermitess 18. October 2009, 18:53

No pics? It sounds pretty!

I second it! You have a kind, loving heart Gavin

Gavin Sheedy 18. October 2009, 19:04

 Thank ye kindly!

Rose: I do try!

Zaphira: well, it's been milder, I think, the last couple of years? The snow came very late last year.

Heritess: I lent them my camera, so they have all of the photos, but there is one from an earlier trip here; http://my.opera.com/garlingmatthews/blog/2009/05/11/my-brother-came-to-town-this-weekend

Kitty 18. October 2009, 19:05

Yes, they have indeed been milder. We only had snow 3-4 times last winter, and not very much. I like that!

r♡se 18. October 2009, 19:13

Gah! I need to move awww

Gavin Sheedy 18. October 2009, 19:15

Yes! Yes! Move! It's very nice here! :D

r♡se 18. October 2009, 19:16

 Although I do like Göteborg, I was thinking further south .

Gavin Sheedy 18. October 2009, 19:17

I see your point awww

ShallowMuse 18. October 2009, 19:20

 ! 'A tad dangerous after dark' and here i thought something like, rapes and murder were going to follow. Damn my South African upbringing! Your danger is the nature! banana :ninja:

so do those animals roam freely on the hills? Like, herds of penguins rolling around majestically?

r♡se 18. October 2009, 19:25

 That would be so cool. And undoubtedly dangerous!

Gavin Sheedy 18. October 2009, 19:26

 I've heard that nature can be brutal in Africa too; perhaps the humans are tamer, I don't know. But, interestingly; our countries are diametrically opposed in how safe people feel; S.A. is the country where people are the most worried about their safety, and Sweden the least. If that perception is born out in how safe our respective countries are, I don't know. But possibly.

 I don't think that penguins would survive in the wild here. That would be cool! But it is a bit strange; they have (large) open-air enclosures of elk and red deer, which are to be found in abundance in the wild all around; but they're very hard to see in the wild.

Hermitess 18. October 2009, 19:28

Ninja penguins?

It used to snow here every winter when I was young. I remember being out of school for days at a time due to the snow. Now we are lucky if it snows enough to cover the ground once a season. :frown: The past several winters have been very mild. I keep hearing we are going to have a bad winter this time. nervous Hermitess does not like the cold!

ShallowMuse 18. October 2009, 19:33

Aw i love deer and elk though! So pretty. And people eat them! Grrr! WHAT DID BAMBI EVER DO TO YA, HUH?!

Gavin Sheedy 18. October 2009, 19:34

Teenage mutant ninja penguins... I like it! :ninja: penguin

Mm. Milder winters are a blessing for many, but it's a symptom of our doom, if we don't watch it.

ShallowMuse 18. October 2009, 19:36

Gosh funny how all our convo's keep steering back to climate change! Tis a SIGN!!

Like... Catfiania south?

r♡se 18. October 2009, 19:40

Hehe! If you can offer me less snow...

Gavin Sheedy 18. October 2009, 19:42

It's on my mind a lot. As Zaph said, it's been milder here; and Ireland isn't the same place at all any more. The constant rain is gone. No-one is complaining... yet.

Greedy kitten :D

Kitty 18. October 2009, 19:46

I can't help it. awww

Gavin Sheedy 18. October 2009, 19:47

And who could blame you

r♡se 18. October 2009, 19:53

:o:

So, is Ireland going from forty shades of green to forty shades of... some other colour?

Kitty 18. October 2009, 19:53

It feels so good to be understood.

Gavin Sheedy 18. October 2009, 19:58

Still green so far. We just get the rain in torrential downpours instead of a constant drizzle.

r♡se 19. October 2009, 17:18

Ah. I don't know what I'd prefer. I'm not very into rain... p:

Gavin Sheedy 19. October 2009, 19:17

I missed it badly when I moved here; but that was long ago now

I would love to see the pot bellied pigs. I love those things!

Gavin Sheedy 22. October 2009, 10:24

I'll take a photo next time

Karen 25. October 2009, 20:19

Yay...thanks! See? Just proving the point that you have a kind heart once again! :D

Gavin Sheedy 25. October 2009, 20:20

 Sweet.

Karen 25. October 2009, 20:21

Precisely! p:
